My Heads up on Blackstone Groups’ Co-Founder, Stephen Schwarzman
The story of Steve Schwarzman is one of success and a strong work ethic. Forbes Magazine placed him as the 53rd most wealthy person in the U.S.A. recently, but it isn’t money that makes this tale so fascinating but in addition Steve’s unbelievable achievements in the finance sector and his generosity to education and the liberal arts. His story has been inspirational to a lot of people worldwide and in addition he has used his wealth to better many people’s lives as well. In 1985 Steve established the Blackstone Group with Peter Peterson; initially it was an equity management and financial advice business. In recent years, it has set the pace in M & A, but note that Steve wasn’t always part of his own enterprise. Living for most of childhood in Pennsylvania, Steve received his early education in the Philadelphia suburbs. When he graduated from high school he decided to study further at the famed Yale University in Connecticut and obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1969. Harvard Business School was the natural next stop on his road to success, where he received his MBA in 1972. After finishing his MBA, Steve started a career at Lehman Brothers investment bank. Before he celebrated his thirty-second birthday, Steve was already a managing director. Steve Schwarzman supports a diversity of liberal arts as well as assisting as an assistant professor at the esteemed Yale School of Management. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in New York, New York. In addition, he declared with pride on March 11th, 2008 that he had presented 100,000,000 dollars to the New York Public Library to help them extend. In fact the library called their new extension the “Stephen A. Schwarzman Building” in his honor.
It’s not a surprise that Steve Schwarzman is now one of the United States’ elite – As one of Times Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on the planet, Steve is these days in the focus of media attention and shaping business all over the world. His quick rise in the financial sector is for certain miraculous, not to mention the fact that his support of music and the arts has doubtlessly inspired the business world generally.
With his business knowledge, experience, and dedication, it looks like there is nothing he cannot conquer. So, by way of a summary, we find a man who has taken each and every business opportunity which came his way, but in return he has equally used his money to try to embetter the lives of his fellow Americans.
