These guys are the Internet equivalent of a Bill Clinton, if Bill Clinton hadn’t gotten caught. They are the cyber version of handsome — they write beautifully, know just what you want to hear and tell you. They POUR it on, and for a thirsty woman, it is nectar from the Gods.

These fellows post on dating sites indefinitely, waiting for the unsuspecting newbie to the dating site. You might contact him, he might contact you, but like a used car salesman, he knows a pigeon when he sees one.

Then slowly, softly, but determinably, he has his way with you.

How do you tell if you have one of these guys on the wire? What if he is a really nice guy, really meaning every word he says?

Well, one thing would be if you find yourself agreeing to things that you never would if you were in your right mind. Particularly if that has to do with sex. Or maybe money.

These guys make manipulation feel like a warm bath. You just slide right in and it feels delicious.

But there is a certain vagueness, particularly about past relationships, and perhaps about future plans. These guys may reassure, but they also will leave themselves a way out.

How can you tell?

Well, one thing you can do is ask for a relationship history. Then pay attention to how he responds, as well as what he actually says.

Does he groan and moan about doing the job? Is he grudging in what he tells you? Or is he open and serious, understanding what you are asking and why?

We cannot do much about the skyrocketing costs of
medical care and prescription drugs, but we can
take immediate action to control the top ten
causes of stress as identified by The Global
Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and
Mental Health.

10. “Workload” – Employees report that they are
often stressed when they have too little or too
much to do. Managers need to divide
responsibilities and help employees prioritize
work that must be done. Make sure you understand
the impact before shifting responsibilities. Take
into account the cost of stress before you
increase anyone’s workload or hire more people.

9. “Random interruptions” – Telephones, pagers,
walk-in visits, and spontaneous demands from
supervisors all contribute to increased stress.
Time management, delegation of responsibilities,
and clarification of expectations can reduce these
stressors. 8. “Pervasive uncertainty” – Stress
levels increase rapidly when people are confronted
by new requirements and procedures. Keeping
people informed controls stress and increases
productivity. Put details in a memo so they can
review the facts following your explanations.

7. “Mistrust and unfairness” – These situations
keep everyone on edge, create bad attitudes, and
lower productivity. It is important to keep an
open line of communication to avoid
misunderstanding and know what people are thinking
about your decisions. Managers must consistently
build trust and give equal treatment – just do the
right thing.

6. “Unclear policies and no sense of direction” -
Lack of focus causes uncertainty and undermines
confidence in management. You need more than a
well-written policy manual. Enforcement of
policies and clear communications are essential.

To make sure everyone gets the message, you can
repeat your explanation in a variety of ways -
repetition and feedback are important. Reinforce
policies through memos, articles, bulletin board
postings, personal meetings, and small group
discussions.

5. “Career and job ambiguity” – If people are
uncertain about their jobs and careers, there is a
feeling of helplessness and of being out of
control. In addition to the trusted job
descriptions and annual personnel reviews, people
need to understand a broad range of issues that
affect the company.

News of mergers, consolidations, plant closings,
and restructuring contribute to a feeling of
helplessness. Management must keep people informed
about situations that will affect their jobs, or
the rumor mill will add to an already stressful
situation.

4. “No feedback – good or bad” – People want to
know whether they are meeting expectations.
Consistent, written and verbal, personalized
feedback is required. Some people need more
attention than others, but everyone’s performance
is enhanced if leaders frequently affirm
individual efforts.

3. “No appreciation” – Failure to show
appreciation generates stress that endangers
productivity throughout the company. There are
many ways to demonstrate appreciation, but the
most effective is a sincere comment about how much
the person means to you and the company.

2. “Lack of communications” – Poor communication
leads to decreased performance and increased
stress. Management memos and announcements work
well for distributing information, but two-way
conversation improves communication and solicits
ideas and suggestions while reducing stress and
complaints.

1. “Lack of control” – Workplace stress is at its
greatest when employees have no say regarding
things that affect them. You can decrease
sensitivity to all the other stressors and give a
sense of being in control by involving employees
in operating and administrative decisions and
acting on their input. Frontline employees know
what they are talking about. Listening to what
they have to say reduces stress and increases
productivity.

Effective managers understand that stress control
is a leadership responsibility and give it just as
much attention as any other management function.

Our computers have become almost indispensable ministry tools. What would you do if the worst happened and you had to function without your computers? Would your ministry survive?

This article is the first in a 3-part series on how to protect your ministry from serious computer-related loss. This time we’re going to focus on protecting your critical data with effective backups. In the next two installments, we’ll cover the basics of network security and finally what you should know about software license compliance.

Ineffective data backups really do have the potential to hurt your ministry. Here are some frightening statistics:

31% of PC users have lost all of their files due to events beyond their control.

Armed with the right knowledge, you can protect yourself and avoid becoming another statistic.

Back Up Your Data!

Most people would agree that computer data is one of their most valuable organizational assets. What would you do if all your donor and accounting files were suddenly gone forever because a hard drive on your server crashed? This could also happen through disgruntled employees, accidental deletion, corruption in one of your software programs or even because of an attack from an outside hacker. The first line of defense in protecting your ministry data is to perform regular backups.

What exactly is a backup? It’s when you make a copy of your important data and keep it in a safe place, so you can restore that data if it ever becomes necessary later. The most common method of backing up data is to use a tape drive and backup tapes. I’ll have some important recommendations for you later in this article, but the critical thing to understand is that you MUST do something…any kind of data backup is better than none at all. If you ignore your data, it just might go away!

Back to the Future

Remember the 1985 movie “Back to the Future”? Just like the character in that film used a sports car to travel back in time, you can take your ministry back in time, too. Instead of keeping just one backup copy of your data, you should set up a system that keeps copies of your data for set time intervals (every day, every week, every month, every quarter, every year, etc.). Use a different tape or disk for each backup you make and then label them by date, and you will soon have a library of archived data backups you can restore from as needed.

Why go through all that trouble? Well, suppose you find out that a very important Excel spreadsheet is now corrupted and you can’t open it. You haven’t used it for several months, and your backup strategy has been to keep writing over the same tapes every week. Chances are all the backups of that Excel file are probably corrupted, too! But what if you would’ve used a different strategy and kept an archive of your backups for each month of the previous year? You could then easily go back in time to the month when you knew the Excel file was still working and restore that copy…the issue would be quickly & easily resolved. Time travel can be pretty useful sometimes!

How to Make Effective Data Backups

If you have multiple computers networked in your office, keeping all your data in a single location (like a file server) and backing that up every night is the recommended way to perform backups. I would also recommend using a 20-tape rotation, which gives you the ability to “go back in time” up to a whole year (in various intervals) to restore important files.

You should also keep the most recent copy of your backup off-site (i.e., at another location away from your office). This is critical because if your building burned to the ground, your data backups would be destroyed right along with it. With a recent off-site copy, you could restore what you need on new equipment and get back to the business of ministry quickly.

I recommend using enterprise-quality backup software to perform your data backups. Good software, like Veritas Backup Exec and Computer Associates BrightStor ArcServe will schedule everything for you, run automatically and keep logs of everything that does and doesn’t get backed up. These programs can also notify you by email (or some other method) when a backup is finished, if it was successful and whether or not you need to address anything. Aside from a little ongoing monitoring, everything can be automated. All you have to do is remember to change tapes every day.

If you’re a home office or small office user without the resources to do tape backups, a ZIP drive, an external hard drive, a CD/DVD burner or even one of those cool little USB jump drives that fit on a key ring would all be options to consider. There are also services that let you do online backups over the Internet for a monthly fee. These are good options, as long as the amount of data isn’t too large. Some services you can check into include Remote Data Backups, U.S. Data Trust’s LiveVault Online Backup Service and iBackup.

Another Form of Insurance

Backups are really like another form of insurance. What kind of problems would you have if your ministry data was wiped out? Could it be replaced at any price? With a relatively small initial investment in equipment and some ongoing monitoring and maintenance, you can practically guarantee that your critical data will be available when you need it.

Protecting your data by effective backups is only part of the solution. Next time we’ll talk about some simple steps you can take to protect your network against hackers, viruses, disgruntled employees and other potential vulnerabilities.

Jesus was in human form after all and he embodied the principles of Divine Love or in other words he was a being of love. So, how would a being of love make physical love? If love’s eternal nature is to keep giving of itself, then would it be safe to say that a Divine being would GIVE love through the sensations of the body’s pure sexuality when making physical love?

What is the body’s pure sexuality? In essence, the body is a universe unto itself. Every internal and external organ works in harmony with each other to assure the survival of the system. The intelligence which governs the body happens naturally, and does not require you to think. For example: Do you have to tell your heart to beat? Of course not. Pure Sexuality is the innocent knowledge of love in the body. The magnetic power of pure sexuality attracts the Divine in another in order to give every quality of Love. This knowledge or intelligence directs the whole body during the making of love through the body’s sensations.

This is also referred to as making love with the Divine in you and in your partner. This is how a spiritual being of love makes physical love. When two partners join with the conscious intent to make Divine physical love, there is no thinking necessary and the love between the partners is then amplified as their vibrations are raised.

How does our thinking get in the way when making love? Thoughts get in the way when certain demands or expectations are placed on the encounter, instead of each partner being in the moment experiencing the beautiful sensations which occur naturally. Thoughts also get in the way when allowed to go to other places, persons or events from the past or to future imaginings during the love making. When this occurs, we lose the connection to the pure sexuality of the body or the Divine.

Everyone has experienced Divine love making at some time or another. These are the sensational moments when we come together without thought involved. We experience the great passion and connection with our partner through the sensations of the bodies. When the love making ends, we produce the vibration of well being and serenity that is recognizable in the presence of others. We remember these times fondly and may long to repeat them, but they cannot be recreated by thinking about them.

You can not make Divine physical love by wanting to recreate the past because your thoughts are in the way. Making Divine Physical love requires you to be the love that you are in the moment and to give from that place with no expectations or demands. If Jesus and Mary made physical love, we believe this is how they would have practiced.

What do you suppose would happen if more people practiced making love this way? Practicing Divine love making can heal and restore an existing relationship or build a powerful foundation in a new relationship. This may be what is needed to end the disharmony, pain and unhappiness that so many suffer from today.

Man and woman have forgotten how to naturally engage the body’s pure sexuality in order to make Divine physical love. This ancient knowledge has been buried under the piles of self absorption and self justification that humanity has been practicing for thousands of years. Giving up these behaviors is the key to freedom and the greatest challenge to realizing the way to Divine love.

Making love then becomes an opportunity to grow the knowledge of love and restore harmony. This is really a great miracle and women can especially benefit from these releases, as they tend to store more emotion in their bodies than men do. This also can be transformational and restore man and woman to their true nature or the being the love that they are.

We can return to this beautiful state of being by practicing honest communication and making our intentions with our partners pure.
