My Audience With God – Ten Questions & Answers

I never thought I would get a personal audience with God, and then it happened.

I couldn’t believe it when I got the message emblazoned on a rainbow of my dreams. God had decided to grant me an audience.

Oh the joy of it. I trembled in anticipation. I have been longing to have a personal meeting with God, and now it was happening.

My mind seemed scrambled in anticipation. What would I ask Him? I had so many questions. Here is a short list I came up with. One doesn’t want to take too much of God’s precious time:

1. Dear God will I be accepted in Heaven?

2. Dear God will you protect me from evil?

3. Dear God have I been a good person in your eyes?

4. Dear God will you hear my prayers?

5. Dear God will you grant me my wishes?

6. Dear God can I count on your blessing?

7. Dear God will you grant me good health?

8. Dear God will you help me defeat my enemies?

9. Dear God will you keep me from being lonely?

10. Dear God will you accept me as a Person of Faith?

God smiled at me and chuckled. He wanted to know why I assumed that he had all the answers?

I didn’t know what to say. I stuttered and stammered and finally in a hoarse voice that sounded more like a mummer I managed to tell Him that it was because I believed in Him and believed that He had all the answers.

At this point God laughed. The whole night’s sky seemed to light up with his merriment, and he told me that He would answer my questions as follows:

1. If you believe in me you have assured yourself of a place in my Heaven and of your dreams.

2. If you have faith in me as all-powerful, I will protect you from evil.

3. If you believe in me, how could I conceive of you as being anything other than a good person?

4. I hear your prayers and know your fears now as I always have, and those of all people who believe in me.

5. I will grant your wishes if they are in the public good.

6. You have my blessing as do all people of faith.

7. I will grant you the health and strength to believe in me and in your future.

8. Your enemies will be my enemies and since I love all mankind, I know no enemies, and neither will you.

9. You are not alone any more, for now you have found me, and I am always with you.

10. I accept you as a Person of Faith if you can learn to believe in me and be inspired by what you cannot see or understand.

And with that last statement God was gone and my audience was over in a flash of blazing glory.

But I accept that God is never gone from our midst and believe that he is always with us, do you? Are you a Person of Faith?

Do you believe in what you cannot see or comprehend?

Would you like a personal audience with God?

Do you have enough faith to believe in his presence?

Hurry, God may be waiting to hear from you! *****

Bold Action: Living in the Moment

Reality show audition…I did it!

What an experience, a day and a half of focused effort and fun!

How many times do you find yourself saying maybe next time?

Do you ever wonder what would have happened if you went for it?

In this article I will share with you what I experienced when I decided to go for it.

While visiting, over the phone, with a friend, who lives in Dallas, TX, I learned that he was on his way to audition for a reality show. The reality show “Pulpit Masters.”

After listening to Neil’s three minute speech I found myself eager to join in. Neil’s message was short, to the point, and “I loved it!”

The next thing I know Neil was sharing with me that there will be a second audition tomorrow. Tomorrow was Saturday and my interest was peaked. I immediately checked out the website and what I found was:

“a series setting out to find America’s next great inspirational speaker”

“a chance to stand up and be heard…to reach out to an audience of millions and affect their lives in a positive and meaningful way.”

someone with “a desire to stand before an audience and share their own insights into God and matters of the spirit and soul.”

I decided I was a match…;-)

Next step, “could I put together a three minute speech in time?”

It didn’t take long for me to decide on a subject. I have been quietly working on the relationship of Faith and Belief and it seemed to fit perfectly. More importantly the words just started to flow.

After sharing the opportunity with my wife it was clear that I was going to “GO FOR IT!”

After writing the first draft of the speech I packed my clothes and hit the road. With three hours of travel time from Oklahoma City, OK to Dallas, TX I had plenty of time to start ironing out what I wanted to say.

By 12:00am I arrived at Neil’s house with plenty of time to spare. I would be rested and ready for tomorrow.

The day of the audition:

After responding to my three wake-up calls…just wanted to make sure…it was time to revisit my speech. YES! It was still feeling good.

With the first part of the speech flowing I began to work on the second part. After an hour or so of working on the speech I decided it was time for breakfast.

I love a good breakfast. After scanning Neil’s bachelor like refrigerator I quickly realized how he stays so thin…he doesn’t have any food! No food, not an option for me.

The next best thing when I am on the road and time is critical, the GOLDEN ARCHES! Yep, good old MacDonalds. One sausage and egg McMuffin and a large OJ to go.

I was feeling good and it seemed like everyone was smiling back. I love those moments. It was shaping up to be an amazing morning.

Back at the car I went to set down my OJ only to have the lid come off and yes, the OJ went everywhere. No big deal, I had a role of paper towels and I had plenty of time.

With a refill of OJ I was headed back to the house. The egg McMuffin was finished by the time I arrived back at the house.

With Neil’s directions in hand, it was time to go. It was 10:00am, I gave myself a good 15 to 20 minutes to spare and as luck would have it, I needed every bit of that time…;-)

Was it me, or the directions, I just don’t know. Still, between my stopping for directions, three different times, and calling the hotel, three different times, I finally arrived.

The scheduled start time 11:00am, my arrival time 11:10am. Yes, I was still smiling and feeling good.

Once there I settled in and focused on my speech. I was number 40, so, it was going to be a while. It wasn’t until about 5:30pm that I actually had my audition.

In the mean time, between focusing on my speech and eating, I was able to meet many different people. Several shared their stories or what they called; their testimonials.

A NASCAR miracle or not, you decide:

It takes place at a NASCAR event. This is not a small event, easily a couple hundred thousand people.

While standing in line Sam and his family realized that they had left something in the car. So, rather than have everyone wait Sam decided to go it alone.

Sam grabbed his ticket, placed it in his pocket and headed for the car. After making it back from the car he went to reach for his ticket only to find that it was gone.

Ok, what to do. Sam decided to retrace his steps. Looking, and looking he was not able to find the lost ticket. Finally, as Sam tells it, he decided to have a talk with God; “ok lord, if you want me to buy a new ticket I will, if you want me to look in a different place I will!”

It was shortly there after that Sam noticed someone selling a ticket. Their hand was held high as they yelled “Ticket, ticket for sale…” So, Sam decided to buy the ticket. “How much?” Sam asked. Forty dollars! they replied.

Sam paid for the ticket and began to talk with the person selling the ticket. Sam shared that he had just lost his ticket and it was then that the person shared that they had just found the ticket on the ground.

In a crowd of a couple hundred thousand people, could it be that he found Sam’s ticket and Sam found him. The seller gave Sam his forty dollars back and told him to keep the ticket. He was sure it belonged to him.

As Sam entered bleachers, not really knowing were his original seats were, he soon found himself right in the middle of his family.

The ticket was indeed Sam’s. What a story, I love stories like this, don’t you.

Yes, I took a risk. I acted on a feeling and got to meet some truly amazing people, and I was able to share what I do and test my speaking skills. I got to see if I could meet the challenge, and I did.

One thing to keep in mind, I didn’t do it alone. I had support from a close friend and my wife, thank you both…;-)

What happens from here, I don’t know. I feel like I did my best and that I connected with at least two of the judges. Am I who they are looking for, we will find out. The results won’t be shared for at least another four weeks.

If you would like to here my speech go to the link below.

How bold are you willing to be?

Have an awesome day!

Cisco CCNP Certification: The BGP Weight Attribute

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 10:07 pm

When you’re studying for the CCNP certification, especially the BSCI exam, you must gain a solid understanding of BGP. BGP isn’t just one of the biggest topics on the BSCI exam, it’s one of the largest. BGP has a great many details that must be mastered for BSCI success, and those of you with one eye on the CCIE must learn the fundamentals of BGP now in order to build on those fundamentals at a later time.

Path attributes are a unique feature of BGP. With interior gateway protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP, administrative distance is used as a tiebreaker when two routes to the same destination had different next-hop IP addresses but the same prefix length. BGP uses path attributes to make this choice.

The first attribute considered by BGP is weight. Weight is a Cisco-proprietary BGP attribute, so if you’re working in a multivendor environment you should work with another attribute to influence path selection.

The weight attribute is significant only to the router on which it is changed. If you set a higher weight for a particular route in order to give it preference (a higher weight is preferred over a lower one), that weight is not advertised to other routers.

BGP uses categories such as “transitive”, “non-transitive”, “mandatory”, and “optional” to classify attributes. Since weight is a locally significant Cisco-proprietary attribute, it does not all into any of these categories.

The weight can be changed on a single route via a route-map, or it can be set for a different weight for all routes received from a given neighbor. To change the weight for all incoming routes, use the “weight” option with the neighbor command after forming the BGP peer relationships.

R2(config)#router bgp 100

R2(config-router)#neighbor 100.1.1.1 remote-as 10

R2(config-router)#neighbor 100.1.1.1 weight 200

Learning all of the BGP attributes, as well as when to use them, can seem an overwhelming task when you first start studying for your BSCI and CCNP exams. Break this task down into small parts, learn one attribute at a time, and soon you’ll have the BGP attributes mastered.

Natural Organic Skincare: A Pai Company Profile

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 7:12 am

The number of natural organic skincare brands are growing. What was once a niche industry is turning into a fully fledged organic beauty sector. More and more people are more and more interested in the way their skin works, and what harmful ingredients can often be put into our beauty products; organic beauty seems to be taking over, and people now what natural organic skincare, or no skincare at all. Pai are one of the companies at the front of that organic skincare revolution. Their name, coming from the language of New Zealand’s Maori tribe, mean ‘goodness’, and they are certified by the soil association. What’s more, they got roaring praise from the Observer, one of the more ethical of the UK’s newspapers: “Internationally adored line of luxury skincare products, noted for being organic, handmade and boasting beautiful packaging”. A very good Curriculum Vitae indeed, and it is no mistake that they are one of the world’s leading natural organic skincare brands “Pai is a Certified Organic and Paraben Free range of skincare products. These beautiful lotions, creams and balms are handmade and hand delivered to Scin Spa in Notting Hill. The packaging is gorgeous but more importantly the products are 100% Natural, smell beautiful and really work (and we know because we use them on our own skin). Our favourite Pai products are the Macadamia and Rose Moisturiser for Dry Skin and the wonderful Bergamot Lip Balm(simple but very effective). Pai is a handmade British natural skincare line that is preservative free and uses ingredients so fresh that the sell by date is stamped on the bottle. Pai products are made using the highest grade, certified organic ingredients – free from artificial colours, fragrances, parabens, petrochemicals and phthalates. A lot of these chemicals don’t just sound nasty. Recent studies have linked them to a host of health problems such as skin irritation, hormone disruption and even cancer. So why do cosmetics companies use them? Because they’re cheap, convenient and make the product last longer. Good for their profits maybe, but not so good for you. Pai are committed to putting your health first. By keeping the products natural and preservative-free, they like to think they’re saving your skin.”Pai, then, are natural organic skincare powerhouses, and their presence in the industry cannot be ignored. And ignored they are not, as their appearence in the Scin Boutique natural skincare roster. In terms of the growth towards natural organic skincare, the inclusion of Pai in the natural organic skincare canon is a valid one indeed.

Only 33 Kilometres Drive from Santiago in Chile’s International Airport Is Brilliant Ski Resorts

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 9:15 pm

Skiing in South America? What kind of destination is that? Is not South America mostly about rivers than about snowboarding? Genuinely no. S. America embodies a continent which reaches from the equator south to Southern Chile close to the northern of Antarctica. By the backbone of Chile lay the Andes. It’s one of the highest chains of mountains in the planet and as the mountain chain passes across the tropical zone, the summits are still snow capped and the alps in summer are just as awe inspiring . Therefore why not bear it in mind as a fascinating location for your firm’s snowboarding vacation.

S. America’s most famous snowboarding mountains are in Patagonia in Chile with fabulous ski bargains. In the centre of of both Argentina and Chile one can find many ski mountains. The most far-famed ski town in S.America is addressed by a few Little Switzerland and if you visit you’ll suppose you’re in Switzerland with the aesthetic Swiss like cottages. The skiing area has chalets, a restaurant, bars, and all that you need to provide a fabulous ski holiday. The biggest skiing town in South America is in Chile. Placed only 35 km from the Santiago’s airport one can make it with a fast ride having flown in direct from a lot of cities not forgetting Frankfurt, Paris, New York, Stockholm and LA.

Folding Vs. Non-Folding Treadmills – What’s the Real Difference?

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 8:03 pm

Most people buying a treadmill will be probably be faced with the choice: “Do I want a folding or non-folding treadmill?”

Folding treadmills (also called fold-up, foldable and fold-away) are a popular choice among treadmill buyers.

But apart from the obvious reason to choose a folding treadmill (to save space) – what are the REAL differences between a folding vs. non-folding treadmill? Here’s a quick overview:

The main advantages to choosing a folding treadmill are:

- you save space – if you have a small home gym or space is at a premium, folding your treadmill up and/or wheeling it out of sight is a great option to have

- it makes cleaning easier – just fold it up and you can vacuum or clean the floor area under the treadmill easily

Because of these advantages, having a treadmill that folds is often seen as just another added feature to the treadmill – like an extra water bottle holder or a pair of handweights.

However there are also distinct advantages to buying a non-folding treadmill that might make you think twice before purchasing one that folds.

According to Runner’s World, the most important quality of a good treadmill is stability. For example, does it feel solid and secure when you run on it? Does it wobble or shudder when you pick up your pace?

Because of the requirements of the folding frame design, most folding treadmills are naturally less stable than non-folding treadmills. (That doesn’t mean they aren’t stable – it just means that non-folding units are more stable).

That is why, if you look at stability ratings for treadmills, non-folding treadmills almost always come out on top.

That’s also why you’ll notice that as you get into premium treadmills ($2000+), very few of them will fold up. If you’re paying that much for a treadmill you want one that feels as stable as a commercial unit. (Ever notice that the treadmills at health clubs don’t fold?)

So the main advantage to non-folding treadmills (and it’s a compelling one – especially if you’re a runner) is that they are generally more stable than folding treadmills.

There are a few exceptions to this rule of course, but that’s really the main difference when comparing folding versus non-folding treadmills.

Regardless of which option you choose, keep in mind that while non-folding treadmills might be a little more difficult to move, they can offer some great added benefits to your workout itself.

MacGyver (Season 2) DVD Review

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 11:17 pm

A unique and different kind of TV action series, MacGyver made its television premiere in the Fall of 1985 to widespread fanfare. Audiences immediately responded to the title character and his unusual penchant for turning everyday items like chewing gum and paperclips into elaborate life-saving contraptions. In this way, it maintained a slight resemblance to The A-Team, and this recurring plot device helped MacGyver build a strong cult following…

Richard Dean Anderson plays the title role of MacGyver, an energetic employee of the fictional Phoenix Foundation for Research. An unorthodox hero by action series standards, MacGyver has a deadly fear of heights. A pacifist who refuses to use weapons, he relies heavily on his ability to use his brain and tinker with the various materials at his disposal. MacGyver’s best friend, and the director of the Phoenix Foundation, is Pete Thornton (Dana Elcar). Pete often sends MacGyver on Foundation missions and sometimes comes to his aid (usually after MacGyver has saved the day). In addition, MacGyver is joined on a regular basis by his airplane pilot friend Jack Dalton (Bruce McGill), a man who constantly entangles himself in illegal activities and other troublesome situations. Between the usual slew of bad guys, the vendetta of archenemy Murdoc (Michael Des Barres), and his multitude of troublesome friends, MacGyver is always in the midst of interesting and dangerous events, and the show’s true entertainment value derives from watching MacGyver’s distinctive method of dealing with each one…

The MacGyver (Season 2) DVD features a number of action-packed episodes including the season premiere “The Human Factor” in which MacGyver and the Phoenix Foundation are called upon to test the security of a top-secret military installation. When MacGyver makes a bet with the security designer, Dr. Jill Ludlum, he successfully gains entry, but the automated system traps them both inside (with a dwindling supply of oxygen) where they’re forced to race for their lives against a ticking clock… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include “The Road Not Taken” in which MacGyver encounters his former fiancée while helping a nun, and “Birth Day” in which MacGyver must guard a pregnant woman from her husband, who’s out to kill her…

When God Says ‘No’ After Promising to Move Mountains

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 3:31 pm

It would be a lot easier to accept a negative answer from God if Jesus hadn’t insisted on telling us about moving mulberry trees and mountains and receiving whatsoever one asks. But he did say all that, and when we don’t get what we ask for, it leaves us feeling a little confused. We start to wonder why Jesus said it at all.

The easiest cop-out for this is to say that your prayers aren’t answered because you don’t have the faith of a mustard seed. Remember? There were conditions we don’t quite understand. Really…does anyone know how much faith a mustard seed has?

And then, of course, there’s the explanation that really has us scratching our heads. “God only gives us what’s good for us. So if the answer is ‘no’, then it’s for our own good.” It’s hard to see how moving a mountain is good for anyone…but that was the example that Jesus used. Besides, He never mentioned any such conditions. He just told us (over and over again) that God would give what we ask for. And few of us can understand why it was for St Paul’s own good that he had the afflictions he writes about. Yet God wouldn’t take them away. Why?

Well, my cop-out isn’t much better, but here it goes.

The next time you pray, stop and think about what you really want. If, for example, you decide a mountain is blocking your passage into the next valley, your real desire is not to remove the mountain. Rather, it is to remove the obstacle the mountain gives. So while you solemnly pace at the foot of the mountain, praying for its removal, take time to notice the gaping hole. It was there that God once let rivers pass through, and there you’ll discover the answer to your prayers. Though the tunnel be dark and sinister, it does remove the mountain in a very personal and subtle way.

In a more identifiable scenario, Joe Schmoe (a landscaper for 23 years) suffers from unbearable back pains. He prays for relief but finds none. He loses his job and maybe even his house. He relies on the charity of others and a government check to survive. It really appears that his prayers aren’t answered. But when he finds a hidden talent in landscape design and finds work with a national construction company, his back problems no longer disable his life.

Now let’s look at something more complicated. Mary Martin has a four year old boy with a terminal illness. She prays and prays for his cure, but still looses her son. We could find all sorts of happy endings if this was a novel, but it wouldn’t help console a grieving mother in like circumstances. But in this situation, we have to remember two things:

1 Her son was cured from all worldly diseases. He now enjoys perfect health with our Father in heaven.

2 The mother is now forced into a new reality. One where she faces the fact that all human relationships are temporary. She must now accept the certainty of death, and let go of her attachment. It’s a harsh lesson, but it is the tunnel through the mountain. Like it or not, it’s the answer to her prayer.

These scenarios all have one thing in common- God’s answer relies on the faith of those praying. It relies on their willingness to follow His divine plan. The traveler must venture into the dark tunnel, believing in his ignorance and God’s direction. The landscaper must explore new employment alternatives. The mother must decide to move on.
