Cell Phone Caller? Caller?

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 7:59 pm

With everyone in practically the entire world having a cellular phone glued to their ear all day long and how they are quickly turning into little mini computers so you can do all those post modern things without actually seeing another person. A postmodern society is where everyone else does all the work and we see less human interaction right? Isn’t that what’s happening here? My sociology teacher thought that a postmodern society has been the direction we are going for quite a while now. I got to agree with the guy, I don’t think that’s a bad thing really but more of a change in thinking really. I’m sure my grandparents would have a problem with it but then again they would have quite a few problems with the way things are now. Their time was such an innocent one really, not plagued with a lot of the things we have grown used to. They did go through the great depression so they were plenty tough, but when my grandmother had to look away in the make-out scene in Top Gun I cant imagine what she would say watching any reality show on MTV. Kind of makes me sad.

Hard Body Nutrition Secrets

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 9:37 pm

In most of my newsletters, I like to provide a healthy snack or meal recipe that not only is delicious, but also helps to get you closer to that hard-body appearance that everyone is looking for. In this article, I’d like to give you healthy food ideas in a different way. This time, I figured I’d just give you some ideas of what I stock my fridge and cabinets with. Remember, if you don’t have junk around the house, you’re less likely to eat junk. If all you have is healthy food around the house, you’re forced to make smart choices. Basically, it all starts with making smart choices and avoiding temptations when you make your grocery store trip. Now these are just some of my personal preferences, but perhaps they will give you some good ideas that you’ll enjoy.

Alright, so let’s start with the fridge. Each week, I try to make sure I’m loaded up with lots of varieties of fresh vegetables. During the growing season, I only get local produce, but obviously in winter, I have to resort to the produce at the grocery store. Most of the time, I make sure I have plenty of vegetables like zucchini, onions, fresh mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, red peppers, etc. to use in my morning eggs. I also like to dice up some lean chicken or turkey sausage into the eggs, along with some swiss, jack, or goat cheeses. Coconut milk is another staple in my fridge. I like to use it to mix in with smoothies, oatmeal, or yogurt for a rich, creamy taste. Not only does coconut milk add a rich, creamy taste to lots of dishes, but it’s also full of healthy saturated fats. Yeah, you heard me…I said healthy saturated fats! Healthy saturated fats like medium chain triglycerides, specifically an MCT called lauric acid. If the idea of healthy saturated fats is foreign to you, check out my article at http://truthaboutabs.com/dietary-fat-article.html

Back to the fridge, some other staples:

* Cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and yogurt – I like to mix cottage or ricotta cheese and yogurt together with chopped nuts and berries for a great mid-morning or mid-afternoon meal.

* Chopped walnuts, pecans, almonds – delicious and great sources of healthy fats.

* Whole flax seeds – I grind these in a mini coffee grinder and add to yogurt or salads. Always grind them fresh because the omega-3 polyunsaturated fats are highly unstable and prone to oxidation, creating high levels of free radicals in pre-ground flax.

* Eggs – one of natures richest sources of nutrients (and remember, they increase your GOOD cholesterol).

* Nut butters – Plain old peanut butter has gotten a little old for me, so I get creative and mix together almond butter with sesame seed butter, or even cashew butter with macadamia butter…delicious and unbeatable nutrition!

* Salsa – I try to get creative and try some of the exotic varieties of salsas.

* Butter – don’t believe the naysayers; butter adds great flavor to anything and can be part of a healthy diet (just keep the quantity small because it is calorie dense…and NEVER use margarine, unless you want to assure yourself a heart attack).

* Avocados – love them…plus a great source of healthy fats, fiber, and other nutrients. Try adding them to wraps, salads, or sandwiches.

* Whole grain wraps and whole grain bread (look for wraps and bread with at least 3-4 grams of fiber per 20 grams of total carbs).

* Rice bran and wheat germ – these may sound way too healthy for some, but they actually add a nice little nutty, crunchy taste to yogurt or smoothies, or can be added when baking muffins or breads to add nutrients and fiber.

* Leaf lettuce and spinach along with shredded carrots – for salads with dinner.

* Home-made salad dressing – using balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and Udo’s Choice oil blend. This is much better than store bought salad dressing which mostly use highly refined soybean oil (full of inflammation-causing free radicals).

Some of the staples in the freezer:

* Frozen fish – I like to try a couple different kinds of fish each week. There are so many varieties out there, you never have to get bored.

* Frozen berries – during the local growing season, I only get fresh berries, but during the other 10 months of the year, I always keep a supply of frozen blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, etc. to add to high fiber cereal, oatmeal, cottage cheese, yogurt, or smoothies

* Frozen veggies – again, when the growing season is over and I can no longer get local fresh produce, frozen veggies are the best option, since they often have higher nutrient contents compared to the fresh produce that has been shipped thousands of miles, sitting around for weeks before making it to your dinner table.

* Frozen chicken breasts – very convenient to nuke up for a quick addition to wraps or chicken sandwiches for quick meals.

* Frozen buffalo, ostrich, venison, and other “exotic” lean meats – Yeah, I know…I’m weird, but I can tell you that these are some of the healthiest meats around, and if you’re serious about a lean healthy body, these types of meats are much better for you than the mass produced, hormone-pumped beef and pork that’s sold at most grocery stores.

Alright, now the staples in my cabinets:

* Oat bran and steel cut oats – higher fiber than those little packs of instant oats.

* Cans of coconut milk – to be transferred to a container in the fridge after opening.

* Various antioxidant rich teas – green, oolong, white, rooibos are some of the best.

* Stevia – a natural non-caloric sweetener, which is an excellent alternative to the nasty chemical-laden artificial sweeteners like aspartame, saccharine, and sucralose.

* Organic maple syrup – none of that high fructose corn syrup Aunt Jemima crap…only real maple syrup can be considered real food. The only time I really use this (because of the high sugar load) is added to my post-workout smoothies to sweeten things up and also elicit an insulin surge to push nutrients into your muscles.

* Raw honey – better than processed honey…higher quantities of beneficial nutrients and enzymes. Honey has even been proven in studies to improve glucose metabolism (how you process carbs). I use a teaspoon or so every morning in my teas.

* Whole wheat or whole grain spelt pasta – much higher fiber than normal pastas

* Brown rice and other higher fiber rice – NEVER white rice

* Cans of black or kidney beans – I like to add a couple scoops to my Mexican wraps for the fiber and high nutrition content. Also, beans are surprisingly one of the best sources of youth promoting antioxidants!

* Tomato sauces – delicious, and as I’m sure you’ve heard a million times, they are a great source of lycopene. Just watch out for the brands that are loaded with nasty high fructose corn syrup.

* Dark chocolate (as dark as possible) – This is one of my treats that satisfies my sweet tooth, plus provides loads of antioxidants at the same time. It’s still calorie dense, so I keep it to just a couple squares; but that is enough to do the trick, so I don’t feel like I need to go out and get cake and ice cream to satisfy my dessert urges.

* Organic unsweetened cocoa powder – I like to mix this into my smoothies for an extra jolt of antioxidants or make my own low-sugar hot cocoa by mixing cocoa powder into hot milk with stevia and a couple melted dark chocolate chunks.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this special look into my favorite lean body meals and how I stock my cabinets and fridge. Your tastes are probably quite different than mine, but hopefully this gave you some good ideas you can use next time you’re at the grocery store looking to stock up a healthy and delicious pile of groceries.

Nice bargain 5000 dollar at a serious loan rate of 4.8 percent

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 4:45 am

It doesn’t matter if you live in Kettering Ohio or in Eau Claire Wisconsin a safe online check up will alleviate you often huge troubles. Now you can inquire interest rates quickly on the internet and forecast if there are possible sneaky traps you should be aware of. You should be burnished today to if you have a great deal or if you don’t with the merchant bank that offers you a credit loan. A moneylender in Little Rock Arkansas or so may have a total completely different actual rate for a 22500 dollar money loan then a bank in Beloit Wisconsin and that makes a large clear difference in your monthly pay backs. That’s the reason why now you need to check over and realize if you can have a money loan at a right percent rate of interest. 5.1 percent interest rate may come along so sightly but will it stay constant after you have to redeem your loan. Inspect to see if the moneylender who is willing to give you a loan is serious.

of the merchant banks wil show you a loan rate that is looking fairish but feels naughtily or so after a while.

The Immutable Laws of Successful Self Promotion

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 1:36 am

The Immutable Laws of Successful Self Promotion discussed several principles and views on how to become successful using specific tactics.
1. The “I am so busy!” Principle When I was 19, I bought a 1979 Fire Engine Red MG with serious rust problems. In an effort to make that car safe to drive it needed to be fixed, so I set out to find a good “body” man. The first man I called, we’ll call him Ed, took five minutes to get to the phone, hmmmed and hawed for another five, and then said (and listen to this) he would not be interested in taking on a project like that at this time. I was absolutely stunned. I called five other body shops and they all basically begged me to bring the car in. After reviewing a few of the estimates from those less experienced shops, I ran back and begged Ed to consider my MG again and that I would work on his schedule. He hmmed and hawed a little while longer but he took the job after five minutes.

THE PRINCIPLE: Tell everyone that you meet that you have never been so busy and that you are only looking for work that presents challenges or is unique in some way. (Clients want to hire those who are successful, not those who are hungry.)

2. The Don’t be Shy or Modest Principle a.k.a The Mark Twain Theory Mark Twain once said, “Don’t be so modest, you’re not that great.” I completely stopped being modest or shy once I heard that saying. What does it mean? Most of us will never be Bill Gates, Lee Iacocca or Alan Greenspan but it should not stop us from trying to sell our products or ourselves! Always put your name, address, and phone number on every piece of promotion you produce. Wear your picture on your t-shirt, get bumper stickers for your friends cars promoting yourself or your company, place your business card in relevant books at the Barnes and Noble (they don’t approve of this by the way). On top of that, make sure that you SELL yourself. What are your good points? How do you differ from the rest? Why should someone hire you? This makes it easy for potential new business to know you, reach you and hire you. So always have the elevator pitch ready!

PLUS — Create a package of literature describing your services, back- ground, fees, methods, clients and so forth. Mail the package to people who request more information in response to your ads and mailings (or leave it at convenient locations!).

PLUS, PLUS — Network. Don’t be a recluse–be social. Attend meetings, seminars, and luncheons. Volunteer to work on a committee. Become visible in the community. Offer to speak and give seminars before trade associations and professional groups. Make sure potential clients will be among those in attendance.

PLUS, PLUS, PLUS – You can also let people know about your recent successes. If your job was a rousing success, send a notice to prospects and clients in similar fields. Include a cover note that says, “Here’s what I’ve done recently–let me do the same for YOU!” If you have a website, you might want to consider saving any letters of praise you receive from clients and build a “kudos” file. Selected quotations from these letters–or even reprints of the letters themselves–can dramatically add to the selling power of your next ad or mailing. (Be sure to get per- mission first before you quote someone in print!)

THE PRINCIPLE: If you don’t sell yourself, someone else will sell himself or herself. The only way to succeed is to not be afraid, leave that shyness and modest demeanor at the door and exercise that ego!

3. The Expert Principle: During my first few years of work after college I regularly received calls from recent grads inquiring whether I knew anything about open Public Relations jobs. What happened was I forwarded someone’s resume once to a person who was hiring and that person got the job. Well, that person, told one person, and that person must have told ten, because the next thing I know, I’m fielding four or five calls a day from people looking for work. And not even in my industry! I got asked back by a professor of the University to speak to soon-to-be PR graduates and was published in a local newspaper article, titled “PR Guru Returns to Roots.” After that I had to unplug my phone. I became an expert in just a few short months.

PLUS – Teach a course in your chosen field of endeavor at a local college or university, day school or adult education facility. This establishes you as an “instant expert” in the field.

THE PRINCIPLE: “Find something you love to do, and you add seven days to every week,” says the proverb. It does not matter that you’re terribly good at something, but it does matter that people think you’re good at something. So be the self-proclaimed expert! Write a book, write an article, speak to your local chamber of commerce, speak to clubs at local high schools, volunteer your time teaching the elderly or try to get booked as a radio guest. There are infinite possibilities.

4) The Garbage Lid Principle a.k.a The Golden Rule of PR – Always portray yourself how you would like to be perceived. I grew up in the eighties and a big part of my life was the Cosby Show. During one episode, Vanessa had gotten engaged and never bothered to tell her family! She brought the fiancé home and introduced him without any notice! Cliff explained to her that it was not the fiancé that they did not like, but the way he was brought to their attention. He compared it to “serving your favorite meal on a garbage lid.” So how does this translate to those interested in self-promotion? There are several rules to PR; one of the most important arguably is “always portray yourself how you would like to be perceived.” So how do you apply the “Garbage Lid” principle? Here are a few tips: Don’t skimp on letterhead, envelopes, and business cards. The letterhead design and paper quality can convey an image of class and success. Package your copy so that it looks expensive. Type on high-quality paper, mail flat, and protect copy with cardboard, tissues and so forth. You can charge more if the product looks better. Use a word processor. It will allow you to produce flawless manuscript as well as dramatically increase your productivity.

To understand how to self-promote is to understand how to be successful. Through positive thinking, confidence, tenacity and understanding can we realize that without risk, we are without rewards.

A Brief History of DIRECTV

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 4:14 pm

Perhaps the most popular satellite provider in the United States, DIRECTV® has a long and impressive history under its belt. So, just who is DIRECTV? And how did they get to where they are today?

DIRECTV – The Early Years

Satellite as we know it today actually started back in 1984, when Hughes Electronics gained FCC approval to build and operate a direct broadcast satellite system, or DBS. The satellite DIRECTV-1 was launched on December 17, 1993 and in 1994, Hughes Electronics founded DIRECTV and premiered the first North American offering of DBS service. Often called the “minidish”, this new satellite dish was considerably smaller than what consumers were used to – approximately 18 inches in diameter – and much more manageable than those large, cumbersome TVRO satellite dishes from our past.

Along with its sleek and compact look, the minidish brought consumers a new way of receiving satellite television transmissions. Older TVRO dish systems were analog only and based on open standards equipment. Minidish systems on the other hand, were digital, offering clearer video and audio, and were operated on a closed system that required special reception equipment. TVRO systems were also mobile, a necessary feature to allow them to pick up transmissions from multiple satellite systems, while minidish systems are stationary and received all of their programming from one specific satellite. In August of 1994, DIRECTV launched its second satellite, DIRECTV-2 and boasted one million subscribers at the end of the year.

DIRECTV – Full Steam Ahead

In 1995, DIRECTV authorized Toshiba and Uniden to begin manufacturing DBS systems. Committing to $170 million in advertising, DIRECTV prepared for the expected subscriber growth and launched their third satellite, DIRECTV-3 in July.

In 1997, DIRECTV launched DIRECTV-6 and in 1998, with over 4 million subscribers, DIRECTV Satellite entered into an agreement to purchase its partner, US Satellite Broadcasting for over $1.3 billion in stocks and cash. The merger provided DIRECTV customers with access to USSB’s premier movie broadcasting, increasing channel selection from 185 to 210. In July, DIRECTV invested $250 million in XM satellite radio.

1999 brought even more growth when DIRECTV acquired Primestar, Inc. and their 2.3 million subscribers. As part of the transaction, DIRECTV inherited Primestar’s satellite assets – specifically, 11 transponders and two satellites – giving them high-powered DBS frequencies to provide full coverage of the continental United States. In addition to the Primestar acquisition, DIRECTV launched a new satellite of their own, DIRECTV-1R on October 10th.

By 2001, DIRECTV Satellite had gained over 10 million subscribers and in October, announced it’s intention to merge with it’s prime competitor, EchoStar Communications, the parent company of DISH Network. In November, DIRECTV joined with Music Choice and Wink Communications to announce a new interactive music commerce service that would allow consumers to purchase a CD of the song they were listening to directly through their remote control. This 24/7 feature was launched in September of 2002.

The merger with EchoStar’s DISH Network fell through in 2003 and later that same year, General Motors sold their controlling interest of Hughes Electronics to News Corporation. 2003 also saw the introduction of a new high-definition video recorder from DIRECTV and TiVo as well as a second-generation model through a partnership with Philips. This was also the second year in a row that DIRECTV was named #1 in customer service by JD Powers & Associates.

On November 11, 2003, DIRECTV enjoyed its 12 millionth customer milestone.

DIRECTV – Today

Today, DIRECTV offers service to more than 14 million subscribers in the continental US as well as the one million plus subscribers in Latin America. It remains the top ranking consumer satellite provider and continues to expand its offerings through high-definition and special interest packages such as NFL SUNDAY TICKET and TOTAL CHOICE® Mobile programming.

What does the future hold for DIRECTV?

With four new satellites expected by the end of 2007 and exclusive DVR sneak previews of high-ranking premium broadcasting, DIRECTV continues to push the envelope and expand the definition of satellite television entertainment. What will be next for DIRECTV?

If history offers any clue, it’s sure to be big!

diamonds for women

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 12:02 am

Marilyn Monroe made that phrase famous. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. That still makes a lot of sense. Here’s why.

Reason #1 diamonds are a girls best friend because they are so beautiful. Fiery, romantic diamonds light up her finger. White diamonds look beautiful with outfits in every color.
Reason #2 diamonds are forever. There are lots of beautiful things around. Why diamonds? Roses are beautiful, but they fade. Dresses are gorgeous, but after childbirth, or as she ages, that beautiful dress would not look as beautiful on her anymore.
Reason #3 diamonds are precious. Sure, moissanite may be what a girl might buy for herself, because of its lower price, but moissanite is man made. Diamonds are rare, natural stones. The diamonds that girls love are of the highest quality. The lower grade diamonds may be used in tools, but women look at the quality of the diamond. See http://www.buy-diamonds.net/choosing_a_quality_diamond.htm for details on choosing a diamond. A large, high quality diamond would definitely impress.
Reason #4 diamonds are romantic. Especially when he is proposing to her with a diamond worth two months of his salary. It means sacrifice for love on his part. The fact that he loves her enough to save that sum to buy that diamond for her is a very romantic gesture that she will remember for years to come, each time she sees that diamond on her finger.
Reason #5 diamonds say that her man can provide for her very well. From the days when men would go out and hunt for animals to feed the family, to today, when most men go out there to bring in the money to support the family, women love being cared for. Being provided for. In many cultures, women look to marry a rich man. A man who can provide for them. If a guy can afford to give her diamonds, he can easily provide for her daily needs and for that of her children.
Reason #6 diamonds are practical. Like the song, diamond’s are a girl’s best friend. A kiss will not pay the bills. A rose isn’t going to pay for her rental. A diamond, on the other hand, in times of emergency, can be a life saver. A single diamond can be sold for enough money to pay for a woman’s bills when times get tough.
Reason #7 diamonds are a girl’s insurance. Ok, so now, there are insurance policies in paper, that promise to pay for her old age medical bills etc, but diamonds are a lot more beautiful. She holds and sees them. She wears them. Everyone admires them. They assure her that even when she gets old, when she loses her looks, even if her guy leaves her for a younger woman, the diamonds would still be with her. A collection of diamond jewelry assures her that in her old age, or she is in dire need for cash, a piece of diamond jewelry could be sold, or pawned for much needed cash. Diamonds are a girl’s insurance.

The Future of Your Child, where to Invest the Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 5:02 am

Do you know what the Child Trust Fund is? Hardly any mothers or fathers seem to be aware of the fact that all babies are given a free £250 voucher from the government to place in a Child Trust Fund. The child’s voucher can be invested in any one of three kinds of CTF account, Stakeholder – a shares-based account thatswitches into cash, a savings account or a shares account. It is a superb chance to save for the future needs of a infant

Scottish Friendly is a licensed provider of the Child Trust Fund The State is eager for the general public to have access to Stakeholder accounts and this is the kind of account that we supply. This means that:

Investments are deposited into Scottish Friendly’s Managed Growth Fund, which seeks to provide good growth potential

An investment is made partly in shares to take advantage of potentially higher returns over 18 years, compared to a cash deposit account (although the value of shares can
decrease as well as go up whereas capital would be protected in a deposit account)

It is available with a low ‘Stakeholder’ funds charge of just 1.5 percent per year

When a person reaches the age of 18 the child will get a lump sum, entirely free of Capital Gains and Income Tax under present legislation

It is affordable – extra payments can be put in the account from only £10

One of the great attractions of the Child Trust Fund is that anyone – parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, friends – may add to the Fund to a top limit of £1,200 per year to help boost the child’s Fund (once added, this money cannot be withdrawn).

What this means is that our Stakeholder account offers a good balance between potentially high returns and a lower level of risk. There’s also the additional assurance that our account complies with the Government’s stakeholder criteria. Nonetheless this does not mean that returns are assured or that Stakeholder accounts are appropriate for everyone. Remember that the value of shares in the Managed Growth Fund (where your Child Trust Fund money is placed) can go down as well as rise and would not be guaranteed.

Only children born on or after 1st September 2002 are allowed to start up a Child Trust Fund. If you have older kids born before the 1st of September 2002 who are not qualified you could look at investing for them with a Child Bond – it’s a tax-free savings plan intended for long-term growth.

The fact is that saving for a child.your children is a sound means of preparing for the future.

Google Sitemaps Explained – How To Use Google Sitemaps

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 12:19 am

Three Ways To Index Your Site With Google Sitemaps
[Difficult, Hard, And Easy]

Google has recently implemented a program where any webmaster
can create a Sitemap of their site and submit it for indexing
by Google. It is a quick and easy way for you to keep your
site constantly indexed and updated in Google.

The program is appropriately called Google Sitemaps.

In order for you to best use Sitemaps, you must have an XML generated
file on your site that will transmit or send any updates, changes, and
data to Google. XML (Extensible Markup Language)is everywhere these days,
you have probably seen the orange XML logo on many web sites and its
often associated with Blogging because Blogs use XML/RSS feeds to
syndicate their content.

Today RSS is known mostly as ‘Really Simple Syndication’ but its original
acronym stood for ‘Rich Site Summary’. XML is only simple code like HTML
and it is used to syndicate your content to all interested parties.

And the interested party in this case is Google. By creating
Sitemaps, Google is really asking webmasters to take charge of
the indexing and updating of their sites. Basically, doing
the Googlebot’s job!

This is a ‘Good’ thing! With the steady influx of new web sites
growing rapidly, indexing all this material will become a challenge,
even with the resources of Google. With Sitemaps, websmasters can
now take charge and make sure their site is crawled and indexed.

Please note, indexing your site with Sitemaps WON’T improve your rankings in Google. You will still be competing with the other
sites in Google for top positions. But with Sitemaps you can make
sure all your pages are crawled and indexed quickly by Google.

There are some other big advantages of using Google’s Sitemaps
- mainly you have control over a few key variables, attributes or tags.
To explain this as simply as possible, your XML powered sitemap
file will have this simple code for each page of your site:

< url>
< loc>http://www.yoursite.com/< / loc>
< priority>1.0< /priority>
< lastmod>2005-07-03T16:18:09+00:00< /lastmod>
< changefreq>daily< /changefreq>
< /url>

Along with ‘urlset’ tags at the beginning and end of your code,
and an XML version indication – that’s basically your XML file!
File size will depend on the number of webpages you have.

Taking a closer look at this XML file:

location – http://www.yoursite.com – name of your webpage

priority – you set the priority you want Google to place on that page
in your site. You can prioritize your pages: 0.0 being the least,
1.0 being the highest, 0.5 is in the middle. This is ONLY relative to
your site. It will not affect your rankings. Why is this important?
You have certain pages on your site that are more important than
others, (home page, high profit page, opt-in page, etc.) by placing high
priority on these pages, you will increase their importance in Google.

last modified – when you last modified that page, this timestamp allows
crawlers to avoid recrawling pages that haven’t changed.

change frequency – you can tell Google how often you change that
particular page. Never, weekly, daily, hourly, and so on – if you
frequently update your page this could be extremely important.

Why do I need a XML Generator?

In order for this XML sitemap file on your site to be constantly
updated, you need a Generator that will spider your site, list
all the urls and automatically feed them to Google. Thus constantly
updating your site in Google’s massive index or database.
Keep in mind, Google also gives you the option of submitting
a simple text file with all your URLs.

Now there is already a flood of these generators popping up! Different
ways of generating your XML powered sitemap file. More are probably appearing
as you read this. For your convenience, three ways to generate your XML
Sitemaps file are listed below:

Difficult – Google’s Python Generator

That’s a relative term, if you know your server like the back of your
hand and installing scripts doesn’t scare the bejesus out of you,
you’re probably smiling at the word difficult. Google supplies a link to a
generator which you can download and set up on your server. It will cough
up your sitemap XML file and automatically feed it to Google.
Google XML Generator
https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/sitemap-
generator.html

In order for this Generator to work, Python version 2.2 must be installed
on your web server – many servers don’t have this. If you know what you’re
doing, this will probably be a good choice.

You don’t need a Google Account to use Sitemaps but it’s encouraged
because you can track your sitemap’s progress and view diagnostic
information. If you already have another Google Account gmail,
Google Alerts, etc. just use that one to sign in and follow directions
from there.

To submit your Sitemap using an HTTP request, issue your request
to the following URL:

www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=sitemap_url

Hard – A PHP Code Generator

This is a php generator that you can place on your server. This
generator will spider your site, and produce your XML sitemap file.
Download the phpSitemapNG and upload it to your server. Run the generator
to get your XML sitemap file and send it to Google.
PHP Generator http://enarion.net/google/

Again, this is only hard to do if you don’t know your way around PHP
files or scripts.

Easy – Free Online Generator

These Generators are popping up everywhere, and Google now keeps a list of
these ‘third party suppliers’ of generators on their site. Find them here: http://code.google.com/sm_thirdparty.html

One of the easiest to use is http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ and you can
index up to 500 pages with this online Generator very quickly and it will
give you the sitemap XML file Google needs to index your site.

It will go into your site, spider it and index all your pages into an
XML sitemap of your site. You can download this file, Compressed or Non-
compressed and make minor changes such as setting the priority,
changing frequency, etc.

Then upload this file to your site as sitemap.xml to the root directory
of your server i.e. where you have your homepage. Then notify Google
Sitemaps of your XML file and you’re in business.

Of course, the only drawback, if you constantly add pages to your site
you will need to also add these pages to your XML sitemap file.
This won’t be much of a problem unless you’re daily adding pages
to your site – then you will need something like the PHP or Python
generator to do all this for you automatically.

Google is still the major search engine on the web so getting your
pages indexed and updated quickly is the major reason to use Google
Sitemaps. If you want your site to remain competitive it’s probably
the wisest route to take.

Free Website Submission Services

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 10:43 pm

Once you have built and uploaded your home business website the next step is to start promoting it both offline and online. Offline methods include putting your web address on your business cards, stationary, brochures, flyers, pamplets, home sign, automobile or whatever literature you can. Online methods generally start with submitting your home business website to search engines and directories.

For those of you who either have a website now or are planning to have one in the future, you will obviously want your website to be found in these search engines and directories.

You will therefore have to at some point decide whether you want to submit your site to each individual engine and directory manually, pay a submission service to do it for you, buy site submission software, or use one of the free submission services on the internet.

Submitting to each individual search engine and directory manually is quite easy to do but can be somewhat time consuming. To do this, you simply visit each site individually and look for the “Add URL” or “add a website” link which is usually located at the very top or bottom of each site. Then just click the button and add your URL. In some cases you will have to add a title, description and possibly other information. For the directories such as Yahoo and Open Directory Project, also known as DMOZ, you will be required to visit the relevant category first. Be careful to choose the right category. If you pay a submission service to do this for you they can save you a lot of time and will usually do a slightly better job with the keywords and descriptions based on their know-how. If you choose to do it yourself, a good place to start is directoryguide dot com and searchenginecolossus dot com.

Another method is to buy software such as Submit Wolf. If you are only promoting a single site, I do not recommend purchasing this software because it is rather expensive and time consuming for a novice to learn. If you have an older computer this software will chew up a lot of resources while it is running and slow down your computer performance. On the plus side it does submit to a rather large number of sites. This can boost your page rank or popularity. That leaves us with the freebie submission services that exist around the net. There are number of them available, and they vary in quality. The way it works is you fill out one form and the service submits that information to all the engines on it’s list. I do not recommend using them if your whole business is built around your site, but for many sites they are adequate. The problem is that some search engines block these automated submissions automatically(they want you to personally visit their site), and they are ineffective for most directories which require that you navigate to the pertinent category first. Also, each engine allows a differing amount of keywords and requires different types of information. Some of the more popular services include submitexpress.com, which will submit your site to 40 search engines for free, addme.com which will submit your site to Google, Subjex, Alexa, Scrub The Web, FAST Search AllTheWeb, LookSeek, ExactSeek, Jayde, and a few others for free, addpro.com submits to 20+ top search engines using an automatic service that is easy to use, and quickregister.net which will submit your site to the major engines and directories if you put a small text link on your site. If you go to ez2www.com there is a freebie site submission service there if you click “add url” at the bottom of the page. There are other free submission sites out there. Just go to your favorite search engine and type in “free search engine submission” and you will be presented with a list of such freebies.

Former Chat Addict

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 5:37 pm

I remember when I would skip lunch just so I can log on to one of the “Tagalog” chat rooms. Talk about chat addict! I never went on EBs or stuff. I just monitored the room and listened to what those with mics had to say.

There was even this guy, — guys, actually — that wouldn’t get off my case. You see, I had this other nickname. The two guys I’m referring to were insisting that I was either a homo or a girl with loose morals. “What kind of upright person would have such an SN,” they would announce. Anyway, it got to the point where even those people in the room I wanted to get to know better started making fun of me, even ignoring me or booting me from the room. (My computer ran into major problems after all that.)

I know pretenses are everywhere in cyberspace… I just didn’t expect people to be so mean. For those who go into one of the rooms just for kicks, well, what can I say except they must be sorely lacking a truly meaningful existance… really…

I think it’s more of the subconscience that’s talking in the chat rooms. These people are businessmen and professionals. A lot speak great English, awesome Filipino, some are even linguists. And yet, they get cheap thrills out of slandering a person all over the room. For what that’s worth, I really am clueless.

Such characters, these chatters. Some people would even come up with such unbelievable personalities to make them more “attractive” that I feel sorry for them. Are they such low-lives that only on the Internet do they find some semblance of purpose?

After thought? Can’t believe I wasted so much of my time in there.

Not that I don’t log on every now and then. I guess the point I’m trying to make is cyberspace, and relationships forged in one of the chat rooms, shouldn’t be taken seriously. If you wanna believe, then by all means, do take it one step further and meet your Net friends.

Don’t just say, “Hey, I’ve got some great friends in there” ‘coz chances are, you don’t. Like that old saying goes, you don’t really get to know someone until you’ve spent time with that person…. rings true for me.

At least I know better now.
