A home blessing meditation for charging a room:

Sit Straight with palms on lap, take deep breaths, relax, and move into a mental space where you activate your intuitive senses.

Imagine a cord of energy from your spine connecting you to the Earth, and channel energy from the Earth through it.

Silently ask for divine protection, guidance, and blessing.

Direct your psychic sensing outward, and feel lines of force coming out of your aura.

Note where the strongest energy is (check out the floor, ceiling, directions, etc.), Note spots that feel empty or dead, note places that feel full alive, focus on where you are sitting and how you feel at that particular spot.

Imagine a sphere of light and love energy at your heart, feel it pulsing outward with every breath.

Feel the radiance increase with every breath, feel your self as a star, continue to breathe deeply and send out the energy, letting it pulsate in the room.

When ready, start making power sounds representing the love and light you are channeling; use it to amplify the light you are weaving; and fill the room with the energy.

Then shift focus to sending a probe out into the room. Note the differences in the quality of energy and how you feel about it.

Repeat if necessary.

When done, feel the completeness of the work.

A room blessing involving elemental quarter invocations:

Face each direction (with arms out in appropriate elemental invoking gesture), and say, while channeling and visualizing elemental power:

Powers of (say direction).
Powers of (say direction).
Powers of (say corresponding element).
We great you, we honor you, we welcome you here!
Watch over and bless and protect this place.

After each invocation, shape the energy into columns of light by sweeping ones arms together until they are parallel and sweeping them up and down while channeling and shaping the energy.

When the energy is properly shaped, say so “mote it be.”

After you have done all four quarters, channel in spirit energy.

To return the energy to a more mellow state while energizing yourself, put your hands out and take in a bit of the energy into your self from each direction, going widdershins, hold hands to your heart and take in the energy (techniques also exist for bringing it into a stone and retrieving it when needed).

DS3 Price Trends

Like most telecommunications services DS3 prices (commonly known as T3) have been falling for the last few years. This is due to several factors. Competition has been heating up since deregulation in 1996. The number of companies offering DS3 service has exploded. With more competition in the marketplace service providers have to reduce their DS3 prices to attract customers and keep them from going to competitors. DS3 service providers are desperate to keep margins but even more desperate to keep adding customers. This competetive arena has created a buyers market for DS3 lines and pricing is as favorable as it has ever been!

The soft economy and crash of the stock market has also contributed to the reduction in DS3 prices. Since the peak of the market in 1999 many companies have gone out of business and no longer require service. This means there’s a smaller pie available and there are plenty of telecom providers trying to get their share. Once again, the buyer is in control and can shop until he or she finds the price that is right for them.

A final reason for the reduction in DS3 pricing is the fact that equipement costs and the cost of supplying the bandwidth have decreased. This means that companies can supply the bandwidth at a lower cost. As bandwidth usage continues to increase as a result of bandwidth hungry applications like video on demand and graphic heavy applications the price of bandwidth will continue to drop. The only factor that seems likely to inhibit prices from falling much further is the “last mile” or the connection from the users premise to the service providers’ POP (Point of Presence). Conmathematics (Conceptual Mathematics) : The Superultramode

The term Conmathematics [ invented by Kedar Joshi (b.1979), Cambridge (England), i.e. myself ] means Conceptual Mathematics. It is a meta – mathematical system that defines the structure of Superultramodern Mathematical Science. (Conmathematics means that modern/ultramodern mathematics is not as conceptual as it should be.)

It has four main components.

1. Conmathematical Definition of Mathematics :

a) Conmathematical definition of pure mathematics – Pure mathematics is a system of 100% precise propositions believed to be 99.999…% certain ( the 0.00…1 % margin in the belief being for the sake of universal doubt : the principle that ‘anything may be possible.’).
Precise means every term of a proposition is absolutely clarified, and every non – axiomatic proposition is supported on the basis of axiomatic one/s leaving no doubt, except the universal doubt. It is very possible that some of the mathematical propositions are not clear ( or understandable ) to some persons. And, some of the propositions are less than 99.999…% certain to some persons. This possibility effectively gives rise to the possibility of multiple mathematical systems according to the nature of the individuals concerned, though truth is believed to be existing independent of individual minds. The principle of universal doubt makes it necessary to review the mathematical systems continuously so that in future they may not be seen to be mathematical at all.

b) Conmathematical definition of applied mathematics – Applied mathematics is a system of propositions constructed by applying some or all of the pure mathematical propositions to deal with ( i.e. to explain and / or predict ) phenomena that are believed to be less certain than the phenomena expressed by pure mathematical propositions.
For example, I cannot believe the law of gravity ( the law that every matter, in principle, attracts every matter out of some force or curvature of space – time ) to be 99.999…% certain, as I can imagine a universe where the law of gravity is invalid ( i.e. where every matter distracts every matter out of some force or absence of space – time curvature ).

2. Philosophy as Mathematics :

According to the conmathematical definition of mathematics, the core ideas in ultramodern science / philosophy, though appearing to be philosophical, are, in fact, mathematical. For example, the axiomatic component of the NSTP ( Non – Spatial Thinking Process ) theory is pure mathematical, while its hypothetical component is applied mathematical.

3. Conceptual Reconstruction of Pure Mathematics :

It entails some flaws in modern pure mathematics and the ultramodern reconstruction of pure mathematics, free of those flaws. Some of the flaws are mentioned below.

a) Flaw in the concept of hyperspace – The Joshian conjecture of 3 dimensional space [ that space, whether appearance or reality, can have 3 and only 3 dimensions ( The conjecture is based on two grounds : i. The NSTP theory implies falsehood of the ontology of general relativity. ii. Four or higher dimensional space cannot justifiably be imagined. ) ] implies that the concept of hyperspace is invalid. And the flaw in the concept of hyperspace has following implications :

i. The Riemann hypothesis ( which asserts that all interesting / non – trivial solutions of the zeta function equation lie on a straight line Re (z) = 1 / 2 ) shall never be proved as it is based on the concept of four – dimensional space. ( Then still how the Riemann hypothesis turns out to be correct for the first 1,500,000,000 solutions is in the same category as the mathematical / experimental success of the general relativity, despite of the background physics of the NSTP theory. )

ii. The Poincare conjecture [ if 3 dimensional sphere ( the set of points in 4 dimensional space at unit distance from the origin ) is simply connected ] shall neither be proved nor be disproved as it is based on the concept of four – dimensional space as well.

iii. Andrew Wiles’ proof ( entitled : Modular elliptic curves and Fermat’s last theorem ) of Fermat’s last theorem ( the theorem that there are no whole number solutions to the equation x^n + y^n = z^n for n greater than 2 ) is flawed as it is also based on the concept of four – dimensional space.

b) Flaw in the concept of irrational number – An irrational number ( e.g. 2 ) is not really a number at all as no number can be a square root of 2. ‘ 2′, for example, is a mere symbolic way of saying square root of 2 without actually presenting it, as any way it does not exist.

4. Conmathematical Foundations of Pure Mathematics –

These are in contrast with the symbolic or, in particular, set theoretic foundations of pure mathematics ( as laid out in Bertrand Russell’s Principia Mathematica ). The conmathematical foundations are conceptual ( though symbolism itself is a concept ) which attempt to define number, for example, as a symbolic representation of quantity and justify the equality a + b = b + a on the reason that in scalar addition order is irrelevant ( and, if possible, to decompose this concept or a group of concepts further ).

Traditionally, the retail industry has lagged behind other industries in adopting new technologies, and this holds true in its acceptance of BI technology. Some industries, such as financial services, have become very sophisticated in using BI software for financial reporting and consolidation, customer intelligence, regulatory compliance, and risk management. However, retailers are quickly catching up and beginning to recognize the many areas of BI that can be applied specifically to their businesses.

The competitive game is changing for retail. As the industry continues to consolidate, retailers have begun to realize that using technology to better understand customer buying behavior, to drive sales and profitability, and to reduce operational costs is a necessity for long-term survival.

Retailers are now paying significant attention to BI software, specifically in the areas of merchandise intelligence (including merchandise planning, assortment, size, space, price, promotion, and markdown optimization), customer intelligence (including marketing automation, marketing optimization, and market basket analysis), operational intelligence (including IT portfolio management, labor optimization, and real estate site selection), and competitive intelligence. There are many factors that have led retailers to adopt BI software: increased competition, the need to squeeze more profitability out of less space, prevalent credit card usage, the Internet’s role as an alternative sales channel, the popularity of loyalty cards, and soon, RFID (radio frequency identification). These milestones have created a wealth of data that retailers are now beginning to appreciate and use.

Within individual companies, we view the history of BI in retail through a method that we devised to describe the status of any company’s evolution toward becoming an intelligent enterprise. We believe that organizations pass through five fundamental stages as they advance in their use of BI as a competitive differentiator:

Operate — At this most basic level are the companies rife with information mavericks: the guys in basement offices hammering away on desktop spreadsheets. If they go, the knowledge goes with them. There are no processes, and each request becomes an ad hoc data rebuild, resulting in multiple versions of the truth, with the likelihood of a different answer to any one question every time it is asked.
Consolidate — At this stage, a company has pulled together its data at the departmental level. Here, a question gets the same answer every time, at least within the department. However, departmental interests and interdepartmental competition can skew the integrity of the output and result in multiple versions of the truth.
Integrate — At this point in the evolution, a company has adopted enterprise-wide data and bases its decisions on this more complete information. This company is beginning to have a true awareness of additional opportunities for the use of BI to improve processes and profits.
Optimize — At this stage, the company’s knowledge workers are very focused on incremental process improvements and refining the value-creation process. Everyone understands and uses analysis, trending, pattern analysis, and predictive results to increase efficiency and effectiveness. The extended value chain becomes increasingly critical to the organization, including the customers, suppliers, and partners who constitute intercompany communities.
Innovate — This level represents a major, quantum break with the past. It exploits the understanding of the value-creation process acquired in the optimize stage and replicates that efficiency with new products in new markets. Companies operating at this level understand what they do well and apply this expertise to new areas of opportunity, thus multiplying the number of revenue streams flowing into the enterprise. Armed with information and business process knowledge, organizations approaching the innovate level will introduce truly innovative products and services that reflect their unique understanding of the market, their internal strengths and weaknesses, and an unfailing flow of ideas from continuously engaged employees.
We are finding that most large retailers have reached or are approaching the integrate stage, with many making great strides toward the optimize and innovate levels. There is an enormous opportunity for the evolution to continue — within every retail organization.

The Presence of BI in the Retail IT Infrastructure

In the typical retail IT infrastructure, there are two fundamental categories of systems: transactional/operational systems, such as POS and purchase order management systems; and analytic/BI systems.

Operational and transactional systems such as merchandise management, ERP (enterprise resource planning), and POS, are very good at what they do — organizing huge amounts of operational data and transactions. These systems can tell retailers what has happened in their business and what their customers have done — last week, last month, and last year.

It’s critical, however, for retailers to understand what will happen: what the demand will be for a select assortment of merchandise, what impact an incremental price change will have on demand, which floor plan will sell more designer shoes, which customers will respond to a direct mail or catalog offer.

Real value comes from systems that go beyond the limitations of operational software alone, systems that can take operational data and create enterprise intelligence and predictive insights.

These BI systems must combine data management (consolidating, organizing, and cleansing huge amounts of disparate data from varying systems and platforms) with predictive analytics (data mining, forecasting, optimization). When they do, retailers can make sense of customer, product, supplier, and operational data and draw insights that will help them run their businesses better and more profitably.

Leading retailers around the globe — like Wal-Mart, Foot Locker, Staples, Williams-Sonoma, and Amazon.com and many others — have begun using BI and analytics to make an array of strategic decisions. These include where to place retail outlets, how many of each size or color of an item to put in each store, and when and how much to discount. The effects of these decisions can save or generate millions of dollars for retailers.

The Strength of the Market for BI in Retail Today

The market is very strong and getting stronger. While it is difficult to find a comprehensive suite of retail-specific BI offerings that spans the spectrum from competitive intelligence to merchandise planning and optimization (product, price, promotion, and placement) based on customer insight, to knowing how to maximize the ROI on the next marketing campaign, to understanding where to build the next store, to reducing supply chain costs. Retailers are telling us over and over that they are seeking a single, stable, reliable, and proven provider of superior BI solutions. They are implementing projects that span multiple years and will deliver value for years to come.

The Retailers that are Realizing the Most Benefits from BI

We find that the retailers that are realizing the most significant returns on their investments are those that take a purposeful, pragmatic approach to establishing an intelligence platform upon which to base all other BI solutions. A single, reliable demand forecast, for instance, can also be used in merchandising, marketing, logistics, store operations, call center staffing, etc., for operational benefit. BI that remains segmented by functional area can provide some value, but retailers can realize a much larger return by building the foundation upon which the rest of the house will stand. This is true of both top-tier and midmarket retailers, regardless of segment.

Specific Areas in Which Retailers can Benefit Most Include:

Merchandising — This is clearly the most important area of a retailer’s business and an area where retailers are beginning to exploit the full value of BI. Analysis of past performance, combined with plans and forecasts of future customer behavior, leads to more accurate initial allocations of merchandise across channels and stores. Assortment and size optimization that are based on customer demand patterns ensure that the correct assortments, size, and case-pack distributions get sent to the correct stores. Daily price, promotion, and markdown optimization ensures that items are priced for optimal profitability, both preseason and in season. Space automation and optimization ensure that departmental sales and profit per square foot are maximized, and products are given the correct inventory and space on the shelf or on the rack. Optimized fulfillment ensures that products are allocated or replenished based on demand. Accurate analysis also results in a more efficient use of manpower in picking, packing, and shipping the first wave of product, while minimizing additional, costly payroll expenses to facilitate transfers between stores, vendor returns, changing signage and labels for markdowns, and otherwise correcting mistakes.
Marketing — By understanding customers better — whether by profiling, segmenting, gauging propensity to respond, or using market basket analysis — retailers can create better-defined targeted campaigns, reducing expenses (printing, paper, postage) while increasing response rates, revenues, and gross margins. Also, as retailers gain a better understanding of their customers’ buying behavior, this analysis can then be used to create more effective merchandising plans for the next season.
Operations — Understanding and predicting changes in demand — by hour, by day, by location, by promotion, by price change — means that the store floors, the catalog call centers, and the fleet crews delivering replenishment orders from the DC to the store are all appropriately staffed. This understanding also leads to optimal productivity since store-level human capital costs can be scheduled better and managed more efficiently.
The Integrated Solution

It is important to note that a good BI solution will be able to integrate with any other system or platform. That said different BI solutions need to interface with different operational systems for different purposes.

A solution seeking to use customer behavioral data to make better merchandising or marketing decisions needs to interface with sales transaction systems, loyalty systems, in-house credit systems, coupon redemption systems, catalog and Internet customer data systems, and so forth. A system that recommends optimized price changes should interface with the price management system, the item master, the system that generates labels, etc.

There must be a closed-loop interface between the operational systems that retailers rely upon to conduct day-to-day business and the BI systems that help them conduct that business more efficiently and profitably.

The Future of BI in Retail

BI will be defined by the retailers that have figured out how to maximize customer satisfaction and profitability with the right combination of quality products, friendly and efficient service, unique value, a differentiated shopping experience, and a business model that truly serves its community — locally and globally. How will this be accomplished? It starts with understanding the customer and then linking that insight into every decision that is made, from merchandising to marketing to distribution to store operations to finance, so that retailers can predict how to best serve their customers’ ever-changing needs and desires.

Have you ever been offended by another person’s derogatory speech? Have you ever been terrified by a person’s threats to do you harm? Isn’t it amazing how powerful human speech can be?

Yet a word is nothing more than an audible sound that falls upon our ears; however, when words are given context and meaning, they can do one of two things. For one, the words can offend, discourage, or instill fear. On the other hand, words can be very positive and stimulating.

It’s a fact that spoken words and even written words can impact lives. I remember an old story about Oliver Wendell Holmes. The story relates a bitter irony associated with printed texts. Holmes found one of his patients reading up on disease. “Careful!” warned Holmes. “Some day you may die of a misprint.”

In today’s world, a torrent of words pours from the printing press, radio, television, and from every political platform and every soap box. Words move people to buy, sell, hate, and love. They can depress, distort, discourage, and deceive, poisoning the very springs of life. That’s why we need to be careful about what we hear and what we say.

But words can also create new thoughts and arouse courage, faith, and love. Such words are a great power for good. An unexpected word of kindness can change a life and set it on its feet again. A lovely girl in perplexity and trouble discovered that. A little six-year-old boy said to her, “I think you’re as beautiful as a fairy princess.” She was first embarrassed, then flattered, but finally lifted up out of her mood of depression. A proverb says, “Good advice may fall on barren ground, but a kind word is never thrown away.”

Mega Yacht Eclipse

Designed by Terence Disdale and Hermidas Atabeyeki, the Mega Yacht Eclipse is engineered to reach a maximum speed of 25 knots. The gross tonnage of the luxury marine vessel will be 13,000 tons. The Mega Yacht Eclipse will feature six guest suites, five VIP suites and an owner’s cabin, enabling the yacht to accommodate up to 24 guests. Aside from the rumored luxurious cabins, the mega yacht Eclipse will also have two helicopter pads, several hot tubs, one pool, three launch boats and an integrated submarine. The security system of the mega yacht Eclipse will include high-tech motion detectors and a special missile-warning mechanism.

Lung Cancer Prevention

Did you realize that approximately 10% of lung cancer patients have never in their lives smoked cigarettes? When asked about lung cancer prevention, most people will tell you that the easiest way to prevent lung cancer is to never take up the dangerous habit of cigarette smoking. And while it’s true that smoking often leads to lung cancer, the fact that 10% of lung cancer patients are not now nor have ever been smokers cannot be easily explained.

Cancer in its simplest definition is the potential end result of a mutation or alteration that occurs within a gene. And sometimes, there is just no way to stop (or prevent) a gene from changing, nor is there a way to control the genes you inherit. When one gene in particular, the epidermal growth factor receptor gene, undergoes a mutation, the mutation is such that it basically gives the green light for cancerous cells to grow and also to divide. Such a situation is totally unavoidable.

Unfortunately, taking lung cancer prevention steps won’t eliminate your chance of developing today’s number one cause of death. That’s not to say that it’s okay to continue certain risky behaviors. You should take whatever steps you can to control the risks in your life. Not smoking, wearing a seatbelt, driving responsibly, and avoiding drugs and alcohol are all ways to control risk.

The Risks You Can Control

Even though lung cancer prevention is not guaranteed, there are ways to keep the risks associated with developing lung cancer to a minimum. Let’s take a look at some environmental factors.

Probably the best lung cancer prevention tip (besides not smoking) is to stay away from sources of passive smoke like burning cigarettes and exhaled smoke. Second-hand smoke in the long-term can do as much damage as first-hand smoke. When you breathe second-hand smoke, those dangerous chemicals still enter your respiratory system, although in weaker levels. If you live with a smoker or you spend a lot of time with one, ask that person to smoke outdoors or somewhere where you won’t have to inhale their smoke.

Try to stay away from the environmental pollutants that can cause lung cancer. These include asbestos, coal, soot, arsenic, nickel, chromium and radon. Use of asbestos has been banned in the United States, however it is still present in buildings and materials that were manufactured before its use was banned and in countries that have not passed such legislation. Anytime there is the possibility that you might come into contact with asbestos or the other pollutants listed above, be sure to wear a mask and take whatever other protective measures you can to limit the amount you inhale.

Moving to the suburbs may not prevent lung cancer, but there is evidence of a correlation between cites with major air pollution problems and increased rates of lung cancer.

Life is full of choices, but when it comes to lung cancer prevention the choices you make could mean the difference between life and death, so choose wisely!
