Using Targeted Web Site Traffic to Skyrocket Your Sales

Targeted web site traffic is essential to making sales through
your website and converting website visitors to buyers. The
purpose of targeted web site traffic is not just to bring traffic
to your website, but to bring qualified website visitors, meaning
visitors that are interested in what you have to offer and are
ready to buy. All the website traffic in the world doesn’t make
one little bit of difference unless those website visitors buy
your products or services, or click on the advertisements that
generate revenue for your website.

Many people get caught up in the concept of driving traffic to
their website without giving adequate attention to whether or not
it is targeted web site traffic. The number of hits to the site
is important, of course, but not nearly as important as the
conversion rate. The conversion rate, by the way, is the
percentage of website visitors that actually buy or otherwise
generate revenue for your business.

To calculate your conversion rate, you divide your total number
of unique visitors per month by your total number of sales. A
simple example for instance – if you have 1,000 unique visitors
to your website and from those visitors you make a total of 100
sales, your conversion rate is 10 – meaning, for every 10
visitors you make one sale. Is that a good conversion rate? Well,
it depends. If you are paying 20 cents per click through a pay-
per-click campaign, 1,000 visitors would cost you $200 in
advertising fees. If your product price or average sale is
$39.00, your revenue from the 100 sales would be $3,900 – not
bad.

If you find that your conversion rate is not satisfactory, you
likely have one of two problems, or maybe both. First, the
traffic coming to your website may not be targeted web site
traffic. Second, your sales copy may be inadequate in terms of
appealing to the visitor and closing the sale. At any rate, if
the conversion rate is not satisfactory, you need to make
adjustments to your advertising campaign and perhaps to the
website itself to ensure that the website is attracted targeted
web site traffic and the sales copy closes the sale.

Other than lack of targeted web site traffic or insufficient
sales copy, there are a few factors that can drive traffic away
thus hindering your conversion rate. These may include problems
with the site itself, terms that visitors don’t like, complexity,
or lack of confidence. If the pages of your website are slow
loading or if there are broken links, visitors may get frustrated
and leave the site.

If your payment terms and ecommerce solutions are not user-
friendly, you may lose sales. If placing an order is not simple
or if the product or service presentations make it difficult for
a visitor to understand the benefits of the product or service or
if they don’t see the value in the product or service, they will
likely leave the site. Finally, if you fail to establish your
credibility or if your automated payment solution doesn’t appear
to be secure, you will likely drive traffic away from your site,
even if it is targeted web site traffic.

So, the trick to increasing your sales is multi-faceted. For a
website that is intended to make sales and generate revenue,
attention should be given to the following factors:

1. Bringing targeted web site traffic to the site.

2. Ensuring that your website loads quickly, is easy to navigate,
and has no broken links.

3. Using sales copy that attracts attention, prompts interest,
creates desire, instills confidence, and closes the sale.

4. Providing ecommerce solutions and payment terms that are
appealing to the masses and are easy to use.

5. Enhancing buyer confidence through the use of guarantees, good
privacy policies and practices, and secure order processing
procedures.

Does the Hoodia Gordonii Diet Pill Really Work?

There has been a quite a hype about the Hoodia gordonii succulent from the Kalahari in South Africa ever since it appeared on CBS in a 60-minutes expose. Lesley Stahl, the CBS reporter that came over to the Kalahari to investigate the story of appetite suppressing Hoodia stated that she did not feel hungry at all for the whole day after eating a piece of the miracle plant.

The San people of the Kalahari have used Hoodia to keep hunger and thirst at bay for many centuries to aid them in long hunting trips through the harsh Kalahari Desert.

The discovery of Hoodia gordonii’s weight loss properties was discovered by accident.
In 1996 when the CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) decided to do a study on what a local tribe, The San, ate. The CSIR took samples of the San’s diet and fed it to animals in their laboratories. In the case of Hoodia gordonii the animals showed no detrimental side effects only healthy weigh loss. It was concluded that Hoodia gordonii is non toxic and acts as a natural appetite suppressant. The bioactive compound was isolated in 1997. The CSIR named the active ingredient P57 because it was the 57th product that the CSIR had spent money on. The CSIR obtained a patent on P57 and licensed it to Pharmatron.

Pfizer, the developers of Viagra, have invested approximately $21 million dollars into the rights developing the active ingredient in Hoodia gordonii, namely P57. P57 mimics the effects of glucose and it is approximately 10 000 times as active as glucose. The active ingredient in Hoodia fools the brain into believing that it is full and that no more food is required. If Pfizer is trying to develop a diet pill based on Hoodia gordonii’s active ingredient does that not prove that Hoodia diet pills are effective?

A study on the effects of Hoodia on morbidly obese people was conducted in Leicester, England. 40 people, all morbidly obese with an average caloric intake of over 2000 calories a day. where kept under strict observation where all they had to do was watch television, read and eat. The group was split in two, where one group received a placebo and the other received Hoodia gordonii for fourteen days. The group on the Hoodia had cut their caloric intake by 1000 calories by day fifteen while those on the placebo showed no significant caloric intake difference.

The study in Leicester England demonstrated and proved that Hoodia gordonii is an effective weight loss supplement.

Google AdSense Optimization Tips

When you login to Google through the AdSense login you can get to a page that contains a series of optimization tips. Although this is a useful page, it can take awhile to read through. So let me present you with a no nonsense quick overview of these tips.

The first thing that Google recommends is that you keep track of all changes and test the performance of your ads using channels. You can set up a number of channels using the Google statistics. This enables you to track the performance of, for example, different ad formats, different ad colors, different ad sizes and even different pages.

You can create channels that are specific to an ad format or you can create a channel that is specific to a page on your website. You definitely need to create channels because it is one of the best ways to continually tweak and improve your AdSense performance and boost your AdSense earnings.

Next it talks about where you should place ads on your pages and it includes what is called a heat map, showing you the hot spots on an average website. In general, it’s common sense if you place ads towards the center or upper regions of a page as you’re likely to get a better response. Placing ads on the right hand side, at the top right hand side or at the very bottom of a page leads to very low response rates.

Your best bet, in terms of getting the most click-throughs, is to try and make the ads become part of the content. Place the ads right in the middle of the content or place your content around the ads. Also, if you use ads that blend in with your site you’ll get a far better click-through rate.

It then talks about using multiple ad units and whether or not you can do this effectively. My experience is that pages for forums, for example, perform particularly badly. I’ve yet to find a way to use AdSense on a forum and generate a significant amount of revenue without first annoying all of the forum’s users.

Obviously, one of the biggest questions you need to ask yourself as an AdSense webmaster is which ad format to use. Google gives you a massive selection from skyscraper-sized ads to standard banner-sized ads and really it will come down to testing. The more you can test and the more you can judge by the results, the better your conversion ratio and click through ratio will be.

You may also want to experiment with link units. As opposed to straight-forward ads, link units contain a series of links through to further pages of actual ads. So for example, people may click on a link unit that says ‘click here for ads about shopping’. You only get paid, not if people click on the first link, but if they click a second time on an actual website. Again, I’ve tried these and not found them to be amazingly successful. But I haven’t tested them extensively; you will need to do that.

Gaming laptops used to only be able for purchase through niche manufacturers. I highly doubt they sold in any significant quantities but they sure made lots of profit for the resellers. These were the kind of laptop computers desired by everyone however the price was just too much. They the the latest technology and simply the best laptop computers. As badly as I wanted one I could not afford to buy laptop computers like them. I think things are already different though and will continue to because the global companies are all coming into the market.

Just envisage how much revenue these companies could be generating especially when utilising production levels. These brands have probably been losing a bit of money on average systems so this should be a welcomed opportunity. Local manufacturers not able compete with them in swaying potential purchasers to buy laptop computers. What can local manufacturers possibly do if their prices are undercut? The excitement being generated regarding the latest branded gaming laptop computers is making consumer perceive them as being the best laptop computers ever. Most of the time the pre made laptops are fast however not powerful enough and a couple of customers don’t take well to that. Email Marketing Kung Fu

Have you ever heard email described as, “the killer Internet Application?” Do you understand why email is the killer app for your business on the Internet, or how to make it that way if it isn’t now?

In my spare time, I teach WingTsun(TM) Kung Fu. I learned Internet marketing by marketing my martial arts schools and classes online. Much of what I’ve learned about Internet marketing – and Life – has been strongly influenced by Kung Fu.

Good Kung Fu is concept-driven. Good Internet marketing should be, too. Have you ever heard the concept, “The best defense is a good offense?”

My students and I are nice people. But if you’ve ever had to defend yourself or your family, you know you can’t be too nice. Your survival, or the survival of your loved ones, depends on you winning. You cannot stop, you must win.

So let me ask you: If you were in a situation where you had to defend yourself and your family – life or death! – would you only hit once? Of course not. You’d keep hitting until you and your family were safe, wouldn’t you?

But is that how you market your business on the Internet? Are you relentless? Do you win? Or do you just get one hit per visitor? Do you really think people are going to wait around to see what happens? Or come back later for another hit?

It sounds funny, but this is what the vast majority of businesses do on the Internet! I’ve done it too, and I KNOW better! Any marketer will tell you it’s a known fact that it normally takes multiple exposures to your marketing before someone actually makes a purchase. It’s so easy to focus on getting a hit on your web site. But what’s the chance you’re going to win with just one hit?

Do you know what it costs you to get a visitor to your web site? Maybe you can measure it because you’re doing pay-per-click, popup, or banner advertising. Or maybe you just know you spent umpteen hours hunched over your keyboard sweating blood trying to optimize your pages for the search engines. Any way you count it, I’m betting it’s costing you a lot of time or money for each visitor. Do you really want them to just surf in and surf out, never to be seen again, and never to generate any revenue?

Are you going to crawl back in every Monday morning to a job you hate? Your family would be a lot safer if they didn’t have to depend on the good will of an anonymous corporation, wouldn’t they?

Are you going to win?

Are you an Internet Warrior?

Then you have to get their email address, and permission to email them. Then we start our Kung Fu.

I’m going to teach you the concept of the WingTsun chain punch. The chain punch is like a machine gun – it’s a continuous chain of punches, each one linking to the next in a continuous unbroken chain. They just keep coming! Believe it or not, with a little practice anyone can punch 7 or 8 times a second for 100 punches or more. In fact, 10 punches per second is not that difficult and 12 punches per second is not unheard of! And every one of those punches is automatic, it’s reflex. It’s all on autopilot.

That’s what your email newsletter can do for you. It’s your kung fu chain punches. They just keep coming until you win!

Now I want to be sure to specify here that we’re not talking spam – we’re talking permission marketing. We’re talking about emailing to people who’ve subscribed to your newsletter from your web site.

Good self-defense is simple. There’s no time to try to do complex, memorized sequences of dozens of movements! You just need a couple simple things that really work when the chips are down and that are pretty hard to screw up.

In the WingTsun Kung Fu that I teach, chain punching fills the bill. You learn it pretty much day one, then you do about a thousand a day for the next 40 or 60 years! Of course it will work, you know it as well as you know how to walk!

We’re going to do the same thing with email. Here are the concepts and simple steps of Kung Fu Email Marketing:

1. The primary job of your web site is to get a visitor to give you their email address and permission to email them. You need to prominently feature your subscription mechanism. The mechanism can be as simple as an email link, a form they can submit, a popup/popunder/popover, or whatever. Just get the email address. And be sure to tell them what you will do with it – you will send them your newsletter, ezine, occasional special offers, or whatever. It doesn’t hurt to tell them in plain English that you’re not going to sell their email address to a bunch of spammers either. And be sure to keep that promise! Since people are getting pretty protective of their email addresses, it may also be a great idea to give them a good reason to subscribe. Maybe you can give them a free ebook or report, or a free trial of your service.

2. You want your email newsletter to earn your subscribers’ trust and respect, turn subscribers into customers, and customers into repeat business. You need to send your newsletter regularly forever, earning trust and respect the old-fashioned way, and never letting your subscribers down. You can do this manually, but I recommend instead doing at least most of it with a sequential autoresponder. There are a number of good ones out there, and you can either go with one hosted on someone else’s servers or you can run a script on yours.

That’s it, you’ve now taken your first lesson in Kung Fu Email Marketing! What, did you think it would be hard or something? C’mon, this is just Internet marketing, not Kung Fu fighting!
