6 Easy Ways to Defeat the Writer’s Block Monster

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 8:56 pm

We’ve all experienced it at one time or another. You sit down at your computer, or you’re at your desk with a pad and pencil all ready to write your heart out…..and nothing happens. Your mind is a complete blank. You feel as though you will never string ten words together in a coherent sentence again. You’ve been attacked by writer’s block. The sad thing about this particular monster is once it sinks its teeth in and begins to work on your psyche, if you don’t defeat it immediately it can be around for some time. Writer’s block can eat away at your mind, and make you think, “Why can’t I write anything?” or “I just had the next scene complete with dialogue in my mind perfectly an hour ago, how come I can’t remember any of it now?”

The following are some techniques that have worked quite well for me:

1. Write anything, even if it doesn’t pertain to what you want to write. Even if you feel what you are writing is crap, it’s important to continue. Just write, even if it doesn’t make sense, even if it has nothing to do with your current project. Who knows? Somewhere in all that “crap” might be a few gold nuggets!

2. If weather permits, go for a walk outside. Something you see might unplug the dam that’s holding all those good ideas hidden in some far flung place in your mind.

3. Take a nap. I’ve gotten some of my best story ideas from dreams I’ve had. And it’s a proven fact that we often dream the solutions to our problems.

4. Meditate. Meditation is easy, even if you’ve never practiced it before. There are many reliable sources on how to meditate both on and offline. I’m sure you can find one if this technique interests you. Like taking a nap, meditation allows the mind to be quiet long enough to find the solution or idea you are looking for.

5. Exercise. Do some yoga, aerobics, or maybe go to the gym and walk on a treadmill or take a spinning class. While you’re at it, watch all the other people and see if it doesn’t jog your brain into giving forth those great ideas.

6. Call another writer. Sometimes it just helps to talk to another author. We’ve all heard the expression before, “Only another author would really understand this.” It’s true, and it’s hard to explain to a non-writer how sometimes our minds just don’t want to work with us when it comes to our writing and coming up with ideas for it. So, call a friend who’s also a writer and talk about your writer’s block, and your current project. Sometimes two heads are better than one.

Everyone suffers from writer’s block even those who don’t consider themselves writers per se. These techniques are designed to rekindle the muse’s flame whether you’re writing a research paper for school, a Dear John letter, or the next New York Times Bestseller. The important thing to remember no matter which technique you choose, is not to let the writer’s block monster defeat you!

Whats In Store For Notebooks

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 1:01 am

Move over PC, it’s the age of the laptop, or at least that what the big demand points to. Taiwan, which is the prime manufacturing country of laptop computers is struggling with the demand at present. Whatever happens in the market this demand for laptops only seems to be growing. Also with laptop computers now it seems like every 6 months or so the technology is already taken over with something else.

Gaming notebooks have recently been drawing a lot of attention. I feel gaming notebooks have never been at such low prices. You can hunt down some really good offers out there that will get you gaming. The power of gaming notebooks has greatly improved and its really a reasonable means of gaming. What stuck me the most is how sleek and slick a few gaming notebooks are getting in contrast to earlier years. Gaming speed between laptops and desktops should forever be partial to desktops though, clearly because desktops are always going to be larger and more powerful. It will be fascinating to see what gaming laptops come out in the future and how tiny they can make them.

Numerous small system builders supply custom built laptops to niche sectors. The idea of getting after market parts entices some people in my view. Specialist sectors benefit because they only have buy what they require. The large number of laptops are designed for the casual consumer which means you may not find what you’re looking for. Custom notebooks offer a work around to this. Manufacturers who sell custom notebooks traditionally offer a greater personalised and local service too. To me this is a great positive.

I cannot wait to see what notebook computers are introduced next. The tiny $500 notebooks are shifting like crazy at the moment. I do not feel anyone thought they would be received that well. I would like to see a larger variant of these cheap umpc’s. I feel it could be a major success. There are portables similar to this in the market already, just at high ticket prices. I can guess its not too long before we begin seeing gaming notebooks that weigh nothing. Manufacturers are always seeking to distinguish themselves in this competitive market so that keeps things progressing.

I really like the gaming laptops from rizeon.

Jewelry and the Stars: A Glittering Night at the 2006 Academy Awards

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 8:25 pm

The walk by celebrities down the red carpet at the annual Academy Awards is probably just as anticipated by television viewers all over the world as the presentation of the awards themselves. The ladies are the stars of the show, and there’s just something enthralling about seeing them decked out in all their finery for the event. The gowns and the jewelry they’re wearing all reinforce that they are stars, a step above us ordinary mortals.

There have been many examples of female celebrities who have been photographed wearing pieces of jewelry that are simply stunning at the Oscars throughout the years. Madonna, for instance, was wearing $20 million worth of diamonds at her neck, ears, and wrists at the 1991 Oscars. At this year’s event, the jewelry worn by the stars were no less eye-catching, and they included just about every design imaginable in just about every hue of the rainbow.

Best Actress nominee Keira Knightley was wearing a vintage Bulgari chandelier necklace of diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, whose colors were reminiscent of a peacock’s feathers. Jennifer Lopez was wearing dangling earrings and a necklace of gold and diamonds by Fred Leighton, who also designed Dolly Parton’s earrings and brooch. Charlize Theron’s tawny earrings were supplied by Chopard; so were Hilary Swank’s diamond earrings, bracelet and ring. Diamonds were also the favored stones of actresses like Jennifer Aniston, who sported a cleavage-enhancing necklace. Other female celebrities who were seen wearing diamond jewelry were Best Supporting Actress winner Rachel Weisz, Queen Latifah, Felicity Huffman and Jessica Alba.

Diamonds were also the bling of choice for the men of the evening. Diamond studs adorned the earlobes of the likes of Ludacris and Will Smith. But members of the hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia took the obsession with diamonds a little further — they were wearing everything from diamond bracelets to diamond watches to diamond earrings, and according to some accounts, they even had diamonds on their teeth.

Many of these stars don’t own the millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry that they were wearing. Giants in the jewelry industry, such as Harry Winston, Michael Katz, and Kwiat, have been lending their masterpieces for celebrities to wear every year at the Oscars. This gives them great exposure, which translates into a sharp increase in sales — especially for designers whose jewels are worn by an award winner. While the red carpet can symbolize glamour for Oscar viewers around the world, for the designers, the red carpet represents the probability of greater profits both at home and in other countries.

The jewelry worn by celebrities during the Academy Awards adds a greater dimension of glamour to the event. Whether the designs are discreet or ostentatious doesn’t really matter. What matters is that with millions of viewers all over the globe, celebrities should look like they have the right to walk down the red carpet. And with the help of the jewelry they’re wearing, they do. The stars shine ever more brightly once a year during the Oscars.

Managers: Get Real, Please!

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 7:55 pm

Personnel mentions in the newspaper and product plugs on radio hardly qualify as an adequate return on your public relations dollar, and you probably know it!

Especially unfortunate when your PR budget could be doing something really positive about the behaviors of those outside audiences that most affect your business, non-profit or association.

And also when it could be delivering external stakeholder behavior change – the kind that leads directly to achieving your managerial objectives.

And, finally, when you could be persuading those important outside folks to your way of thinking, then move them to take actions that help your department, division or subsidiary succeed.

On the other hand, if all you want is a simple publicity effort, fine. But if you want full-bore public relations performance like that above – performance that really contributes to your success as a manager – here’s a blueprint that will start you on your way.

“People act on their own perception of the facts before them, which leads to predictable behaviors about which something can be done. When we create, change or reinforce that opinion by reaching, persuading and moving-to-desired-action the very people whose behaviors affect the organization the most, the public relations mission is accomplished.”

What can you expect from such a blueprint? How about heavy-hitter givers eyeing your 501-C-3; newly interested specifying sources asking you for more data; qualified proposals for strategic alliances and joint ventures; prospects showing new interest; growing numbers of requests for membership applications; repeat purchases reappearing; political leaders taking a closer look at your unit as a key member of the business, non-profit or association communities; a delightful jump in sales floor visits; and even community leaders seeking you out.

If you’re a business, non-profit or association manager, you need to take two steps as soon as possible. First, jot down those outside audiences of yours whose behavior helps or hinders you in pursuing your objectives. Then record them according to how severe their impact is, and let’s look at the target audience that shows up in first place.

While you probably would have assembled the required data if such activity enjoyed a priority in your shop, fact is you probably haven’t gathered the information that tells you what most members of that key outside audience think about your organization. But now, in the absence of a large professional survey budget, you and your colleagues will have to monitor external audience by asking the questions yourselves. questions like “Have you ever met anyone from our organization? Was it a satisfactory experience? How much do you know about our services or products?” Look for negative statements, especially evasive or hesitant replies. And be on the lookout for false assumptions, untruths, misconceptions, inaccuracies and potentially damaging rumors. You’ll need to correct any that you come across because experience shows they usually result in negative behaviors.

With the aim of correcting such aberrations before they become hurtful behaviors, here you select the specific perception to be altered. You have now identified your public relations goal.

However, my friend, a PR goal without a strategy to show you how to get there, is like Quesadillas without fried onions and mushrooms. That’s why you must select one of three strategies especially designed to create perception or opinion where there may be none, change existing perception, or reinforce it. But be careful that your new goal and the new strategy match each other. After all, you wouldn’t want to select “change existing perception” when you have a good current perception suggesting a “reinforce” strategy.

Enter writing talent. Here your PR team must put those writing skills to work and prepare a compelling message. One structured to alter your key target audience’s perception, as called for by your public relations goal.

Here’s a good idea — combine your fixit message with another newsworthy announcement – or include it in a different presentation — thus lending credibility by downplaying the fact that you’re correcting something.

Still, your corrective message must be clear about what perception needs clarification or correction and why. The message must be truthful and your position must be persuasive, logically explained and believable. It is the best way to hold the attention of members of that target audience, and actually move perception your way.

Picking the tools you will count on to carry your persuasive new thoughts to the attention of that external audience (I call such tactics “beasts of burden”) will be the easiest part of your campaign.

There is an endless selection of communications tactics available such as group briefings, letters-to-the-editor, brochures, press releases and personal contacts. Or possibly, radio and newspaper interviews, speeches, newsletters, and many others. But again, be cautious about the tactics you select. Can they demonstrate a record of reaching the same people as those you call your target stakeholders?

Undoubtedly, the question of progress will come up. And you’ll want to be ready for such queries by again monitoring perceptions among your target audience members. But there’s a big difference the second time around. Using questions similar to those used during your earlier monitoring session, you mow will be on the alert for indications that audience perceptions are beginning to move in your direction. Fortunately for you and I, that means progress.

Once again, we are fortunate in the PR business that we can move almost any program along at a faster rate by using additional communications tactics, AND by increasing their frequencies.

Two final pieces of advice. Keep your attention focused sharply on the very groups of outside people – your key external stakeholders — who play such a major role in just how successful a manager you will be.

And use a workable blueprint such as that outlined at the beginning of this article. In other words, a plan that helps you persuade those important outside stakeholders to your way of thinking, then moves them to take actions that lead to the success of your department, division or subsidiary.

Real Estate Bubble? How to Profit in ANY Real Estate Market

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 6:35 am

With all the talk of a pending real estate bubble or falling sales prices, real estate investors need to guard their money and find new ways to make money. No matter what the market does, you can make money investing in real estate when you know what to do and what to avoid.

How to Make Money Investing in Real Estate Today

Buy smart. Research your market so you know how to find a bargain investment property. It’s difficult to understand your investment location if it’s too far from home, so choose an area that you enjoy visiting or one near your work or home. Study the area, watch the trends, and learn as much as possible about your location.

Finance smart. Check your credit and put yourself in position to qualify for the best interest rates, lowest mortgage costs, and avoid pre-payment penalties. You can buy investment property with poor credit, but you will pay much more for the financing.

Rent smart. Many investors purchased homes in other states believing that the property would pay for itself. You must understand local rental markets or be in the position to pay any negative monthly expense. Can you afford the difference between the mortgage payment and the rental income? What about vacancies? Don’t put yourself in financial jeopardy to purchase investment property.

Improve your property. Raise your profit potential by making improvements. You can raise the rent or sell for top dollar when tenants and home buyers fall in love with your unique offer. Learn about the latest interior design ideas that pay you a higher profit.

Sell smart. Home staging methods can increase your profit potential. Create a buyer’s dream with interior design strategies. Use new Marketing Psychology to sell your property. Sell the benefits to the buyer (just like Internet marketing). Avoid common pitfalls in the sale of your property, such as appraisals that don’t measure up to the sales price. Understand the sales process and watch over your pending sale.

You can profit in any real estate market, bubble or not, when you do your research, understand your location, buy smart, improve the property, and sell with Marketing Psychology strategies.

The Prospering Global Estate Market — Simplified by Property Index

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 11:53 am

Overseas property specialists Property Index sell a range of properties such as apartments and villas.

In spite of the fact that Property Index may be considered a pretty young corporation, having been registered in March 2007, they have established expert status very quickly. They are actually a incredibly hassle-free corporation specialized in helping every customer who is proposing to sell property no matter where. Their assurance is to lend you a hand to light on exactly what’s desired very quickly and, furthermore, painlessly. Real property is available for the asking in most areas of the world at the moment, maybe the coolest area being real property available in Spain. It’s a no brainer to tally the good properties you can purchase in Spain, the motivation for hunting for estate here is a combination of the houses and apartments available for sale and the opportunity of spending your life together with such a keen population.

This is one of the truly trendy property markets at the moment, and with the overall attractiveness and climate surrounding you, how could you ever say no… Real property in Spain is steeped in history, art and culture, this region has a long tradition as a home to quite a few indigenous cultures. Some 30 years back you would find a mere trickle of UK citizens in search of properties in Spain. Ask any person who has emigrated to Spain and they will substantiate it. Some people would will see it as a basically irrelevant vogue and others will see it as a as something approaching an addiction. Buyers intent on migrating here may extend from young working couples keen on a perspective to older people intending to take it easy.

Note that you may hit on a few issues when purchasing properties abroad; there are, of course, hundreds of heterogeneous actions be it when working out a plan, surveying or actually purchasing. If you only miss one single action it may engender wide-ranging issues plus, more importantly, a financial hammering. Naturally, as can be counted on with this fashionable area, properties may well be unbelievably pricey in this region and that is naturally a result of the broad buyer demand. This notwithstanding, the property buyer is actually quite spoiled in a region so richly blessed by beaming view. Actually it’s got the whole enchilada a client could crave etc.

The best solution for a painful tennisarm is there now

Nevertheless, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with painful tennisarm. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 611 to 905. The inflammation of the unilateral epicondylitis lateralis, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. However, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 8 weeks in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable. Therefore, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the last 5 days.

Indeed, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. Further, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. All PPT measurements were conducted 16 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 978 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the first 4 years.

Painful tennisarm, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 5 hours. Results are presented as mean. Indeed, there were no significant differences after 3 minutes.

Next 2 months, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. For 5 years gain settings were standardized and kept constant. B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on four patients with unilateral tennisarm. However, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 9 weeks.

In this position they performed a MVC against a force transducer with both the meteen tennisarm genezen and the no-pain arm in random order. The diameter of the contact area was 918 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 463 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.

Nevertheless, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 7 hours.

Acne Products – Accutane

Filed under: Uncategorized @ 10:23 pm

There are various so-called “cures” for acne on the market today. Although there are several different kinds of products to help with acne problems, many consumers feel “they just don’t work”. There is one product on the market, however, that just about guarantees its effectiveness and this product is called Accutane.

Accutane is used to treat a more severe type of acne (nodular acne) that has not shown any signs of improvement with other treatments. Although this product has been fairly successful, it can have some serious side effects. It is not an over the counter medication and can only be prescribed by a doctor. Before being prescribed Accutane, you will be asked to read and sign forms indicating that you understand the great risks. One of the side effects of Accutane is birth defects. If taken by pregnant women, Accutane can cause the baby to be deformed or even die. Women should not take Accutane before getting pregnant, while pregnant, or with a month after giving birth. If a woman does happen to get pregnant while taking Accutane, she should stop taking it immediately and call her doctor.

Along with birth defects, Accutane has been said to cause its users to have mental problems and thoughts of suicide. Some patients, while using Accutane or shortly after, have become depressed or developed other serious mental disorders. Other patients have had thoughts of suicide and some have actually taken their own lives while using or shortly after using Accutane. However, no evidence has been proven that these actions would not have occurred anyway and really had nothing to do with the use of Accutane.

While taking Accutane, you will not receive any more than a thirty-day supply at any one time. This is to be sure that you check in with your doctor at least once a month to discuss any side effects.

Accutane comes in a capsule form and is generally taken twice a day. According to your condition, however, this amount can vary. If you miss a dose, do not take two the next time. This will give your body too strong a concentration of the Accutane in your system and can cause future problems. Instead, just save that missed dose and use it the next time. Because some of Accutane’s serious side effects show up in the blood, your doctor may require you to have a blood test while making one of your regular visits.

Apart from avoiding getting pregnant and breast feeding while taking Accutane, you also avoid giving blood. Do not take vitamin A supplements because they act in a very similar way to Accutane and may increase your chances of having side effects. You may also want to avoid sunlight and ultra violet light as much as possible because Accutane makes your skin more sensitive to light.

Despite the many possible side effects, Accutane has been known to give those suffering from severe acne the relief that they have been longing for.
